Maria Mealla was raised at the skirt of the Andes in La Paz, Bolivia on a healthy balance of Cultural Folklore and Catholic Superstition. She studied Theater Arts at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and eventually made her way to the Bay Area, where she learned filmmaking through work-trade on indie films. She is Head of Production at Glass and Marker, a creative studio in Oakland, California. Maria is a 2022 Sidewalk Labs Fellow. Her feature debut, Bring me and Avocado, is streaming on Amazon Prime. Her short film, La Macana, is a 2023 HBO Max Latino Competition winner and will be streaming on HBO Max this fall. Body Shop, her latest endeavor, is an ATT Untold Stories Finalist and will be pitched live at Tribeca 2023
