Undone and The Kollective producer Submarine and Rebel Maverick have teamed to create a TV version of Sayantani DasGupta’s book series. DasGupta will adapt the stories with animation writer veteran and Emmy winner Michael Ryan.
Published by Scholastic, Kiranmala & The Kingdom Beyond debuted in 2018 with The Serpent’s Secret. It won several book awards, with Kiranmala & The Kingdom Beyond: Game of Stars following in 2019 and entering the New York Times bestseller list. The tennis star’s production company Hana Kuma has teamed with Rebel Maverick, run by the queer, Afro-Latinx writing and producing team, Matt Nicholas and Nastassja Kayln, to develop manga series Allure: The Evening Primrose as an adult anime TV series.
It is based on Noir Caesar Entertainment’s manga of the same name.

Comedian, actress, influencer, model, and entrepreneur Tamera Kissen was recently seen in the House Party reboot and the Tubi release You’re Not Alone. When the White Men Can’t Jump remake reaches the Hulu streaming service on May 19th, she’ll be seen in that film as well. “Charm City Kings” producer Caleeb Pinkett has teamed up with production company Rebel Maverick for a film based on Alyssa Keli Rose’s Medium article “The Dunbar Heist,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Pinkett, the brother of Jada Pinkett Smith, will produce the project with Clarence Hammond and Dougie Cash. Rebel Maverick’s Matt Nicholas and Nastassja Kayln will also be producing, with Jane Kim Yang overseeing for their company. Norman Towns (“Insecure”) brought in the project and will be executive producing.

The novel by first-time author Suri is centers on Mehr, the illegitimate daughter of an imperial governor and an exiled Amrithi mother–a member of a race of nomads persecuted for the magic in their blood. Mehr finds herself at the center of a deadly struggle for power after the Emperor and his mystics discover she has inherited her mother’s abilities to compel the dreams of sleeping gods.
