Christine Sloan Stoddard is a Salvadoran-American author, artist, filmmaker, theatre-maker, and the founder of Quail Bell Magazine. Above all, she loves telling stories and exploring storytelling traditions across cultures. Her work spans the fictional, parafictional, dramatic, comedic, and poetic. Her projects include books, films, performances, photographs, paintings, and other imaginings often merged across genres and media. She is the author of Heaven is a Photograph, Naomi & The Reckoning, Desert Fox by the Sea, Belladonna Magic, and other books. You can find her words, images, and videos in Ms. Magazine, Bustle, The Feminist Wire, The Huffington Post, and beyond. As a writer and performer, she has shared her talents and creations with the Kennedy Center, Broadway Comedy Club, Riant Theatre, Theater for the New City, Poetic Theater Productions, the New York City Poetry Festival, and elsewhere. In Summer 2020, she was an AnkhLave Arts Alliance fellow at the Queens Botanical Garden and her film, "Bottled," became available on Amazon Prime Video and was accepted into the New York Long Island Film Festival. She earned her MFA from The City College of New York-CUNY and undergraduate degrees from VCUarts.
