[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Outlander Season 7 Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels.”] Outlander‘s Season 7 finale, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” brought tears to eyes and shock to fans as the episode insinuated the possibility that Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) first daughter Faith had actually lived. But how could that be possible? Faith was stillborn in France decades earlier and seemingly buried before the couple returned to Scotland ahead of the fateful Battle of Culloden. That’s something showrunner Matthew B. Roberts promises will be answered in the show’s upcoming final season. Whether Faith lived or not is for fans to learn in time. The installment also saw Claire revisited by Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon), the apothecary owner she met in France, who asks for forgiveness for some unknown act. Meanwhile, Jamie teams up with son William (Charles Vandervaart) to try and save Jane (Silvia Presente) amid her imprisonment, only to...

[This story contains major spoilers from the season seven finale of Outlander, “A Hundred Thousand Angels.”]
In seven seasons of Outlander, Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) have endured enough trauma to last multiple lifetimes. While they have always found their way back to each other and the family they’ve created together across centuries, Claire and Jamie, now in middle age, are perhaps more aware than ever about what they stand to lose.
“Jamie is very much aware of his mortality. He’s talked about it multiple seasons, about his nine lives, and he’s right at the end of them,” Heughan tells The Hollywood Reporter in a joint interview with Balfe about the season seven ending. “He didn’t want to be involved in this [Revolutionary War], but his choice now is that he has to be involved to protect those he loves. I think [Jamie and Claire] are aware that they can’t exist without each other and they’d rather not.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Outlander season 7, episode 16!Outlander star Sam Heughan has teased the relationship between Jamie and Lord John Grey in season 8, revealing what's next for them in the final episodes. Outlander season 8 will begin off the back of a shocking season finale, which implied Jamie's (Heughan) firstborn daughter, who he believed was stillborn in season 2, might actually be Fanny's (Florrie May Wilkinson) mother. However, in the midst of these time travel reveals, there was a dramatic confrontation between him and Lord John (David Berry), falling out after the latter married Claire (Caitríona Balfe) when Jamie was believed dead.
Speaking with What to Watch, Heughan teased Jamie and Lord John's contentious relationship in Outlander season 8, following their season 7 confrontation. The actor explained how their complicated history together had imbued a friendship between them, even if Lord John's feelings are more romantic. However, he also said both are father figures...

[Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7 Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels.”] Outlander‘s penultimate season went out with quite a bang in its final chapter, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” which saw the Frasers following a collision course toward a mind-blowing family revelation, in which Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) biological son, William (Charles Vandervaart) played an integral role. We’re referring, of course, to the cliffhanger which hinted Jamie and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) first daughter, Faith, actually survived and was the mother of their new ward, Fanny Pocock (Florrie May Wilkinson), and her sister, Jane (Silvia Presente). As viewers will recall, in Season 2, Claire gave birth to a stillborn Faith after Jamie was caught dueling Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). In this episode, as Claire was recovering from her high-risk surgery at the hands of Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips), she was visited by Season 2’s Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon), the apothecary owner who mysteriously...

We’re about to sink into a mini-droughtlander with the arrival of Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 16, the season finale. We’re labeling it “mini” because fans of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander world only have to wait until this summer for the arrival of the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” begins with Jane (Silvia Presente) being questioned about the murder of Captain Harkness. She jokes that the devil was whispering in her ear and argues that unlike his description of the murder as “abdominal,” she believes it was glorious. Her face has a look of defiance as she admits she has no regrets.
Jane refuses to tell her inquisitor her story until he brings up her sister. He suggests it’s better that Fanny reads a story told by Jane rather than himself.

The most recent episode of Outlander, "Ye Dinna Get Used to It," featured some major turns for the characters, including a reunion between Jamie, Claire and Lord John Grey as well as a dinner with famous historical figures like George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette. It was also a special episode because it was written by Diana Gabaldon, the author of the Outlander book series. This is the third episode she's written in the history of the series, and she talked about the process to Parade.
“They did change quite a bit from the first draft, but largely to change emphasis, rather than plot," Gabaldon said. “Some lines were changed—when Claire (book) sees Jamie in his new uniform and he asks whether he looks decent to inspect troops, she replies, ‘You look like bloody Mars, god of war. [Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7 Episode 14, “Ye Dinna Get Used to It.”] Outlander continues to expand upon William’s (Charles Vandervaart) story in Season 7 as the young soldier was surprised by Jane (Silvia Presente) at his camp in the latest episode, “Ye Dinna Get Used to It.” In the installment, the prostitute surprises William when she arrives with her young sister Fanny seeking protection. Initially, Jane tells William that the malicious Captain Harkness (Adam Jackson-Smith) returned to the brothel and so, she fled with Fanny. Seeking any assistance he can provide, Jane is indifferent when he suggests that she work doing the camp’s laundry as she reveals she doesn’t know how to use money. Pushing to come to a different kind of arrangement, Jane hints that she can be at William’s disposal if he pleases, but the young man refuses to take that approach with Jane. Ultimately, he sets her...

Outlander season 7's episode 13, "Hello, Goodbye," packs on the nostalgia from the earliest seasons of the show and continues the trend of father-son relationships driving the plot forward. On the latest episode of Outlander, William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) has a bit of a meltdown that begins when he finds out that he's actually the biological son of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), shattering his self-identity; he's lived his whole thinking that his adoptive father Lord John Grey (David Berry) was his dad.
The news sends William into a spiral. He's abusive towards a prostitute who shows kindness to him before lashing out against Young Ian (John Bell) and his partner Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small). He attacks Young Ian, who he just found out is technically his cousin, and then gets Ian arrested when he fights back. He also forces a kiss on Rachel.

Drama is riding high over on Outlander. In the most recent episodes, Jamie Fraser's wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and best friend Lord John Grey (David Berry) were reeling from the news that his ship had sunk at sea. They were so distraught over this that they found solace in a night of passion, which was really more about the both of them grieving for Jamie than it was about any attraction they felt for each other; after all, Lord John is gay.
So Claire and Lord John had no problem putting their night together in its proper context, but Jamie (Sam Heughan) saw it differently. It ends up that he never got on that ship, and when he shows up in Philadelphia to reunite with Claire, he learns about what happens and does not take it well. He beats on Lord John and remains cold to Claire, which caught Heughan off guard.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Outlander season 7, part 2 episode 12!The next installment of Outlander season 7, part 2, starts with a bang and is the most action-packed addition to the season yet. After leaving off on the cliffhanger that Jamie didn't perish on his ship heading back from Europe to America, he and Claire hardly get a moment to celebrate before he's already on the run from the Red Coats. Of course, that's not the only bombshell that was dropped in the first three episodes of Outlander season 7, part 2, as William now knows that Jamie is his father, and he doesn't handle the news well.

Smashing a mirror was only the start of a destructive rampage for William (Charles Vandervaart) after discovering that Jamie (Sam Heughan) was his real father on Outlander. “This is probably William at his absolute worst. He’s having a full-blown crash out in this episode,” Vandervaart told us in Inside Outlander, our weekly aftershow. (Watch the video above for the full interview.) William’s fury drove him to “a tornado,” as Vandervaart calls it, of reprehensible behavior. One target was Ian (John Bell). Not only was William furious that Ian had kept it a secret that the two were cousins, but he was also jealous that Ian was engaged to Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small). A fight followed, and William had Ian arrested. In response, Rachel slapped William across the face. When you incite a Quaker woman to violence, you know you’re pushing the limits. Vandervaart also had an intense scene with Heughan.

Jamie (Sam Heughan) pulls Lord John (David Berry) through the streets, trying to escape the soldiers as Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 12 opens. It seems Jamie has something on him that he didn’t want the soldiers finding during their search as he entered the city.
Lord John wonders why Jamie took the chance to come to his house, and obviously, Jamie did it to see Claire. He knew she’d be worried after news arrived that his ship sank. Now, Jamie needs to get out of the city. Lord John should claim he was forced to go with Jamie if anyone discovers them.
They ride out of the city and Jamie finally has the chance to thank John for taking care of Claire. He promises to clear up all the lies they’ve told William the next time they see him.

The latest episode of Outlander, "A Hundredweight of Stones," shocked the fandom. Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), the long-time romantic lead of the series, was dead after his ship went down at sea. That left his wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and best friend Lord John Grey (David Berry) to mourn him in Philadelphia. But the process was tricky. Claire was being hunted by redcoats, so to protect her, Lord John offered his hand in marriage. Out of necessity, she took it, but the wedding was miserable; neither people are in love, but in mourning.

But with what comes next, I don't care how much we love a character. Jamie and Claire should only be with each other at this point no matter the circumstances.

The latest episode of Outlander, "A Hundredweight of Stone," was intense. Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) was trying to wrap her head around the idea that her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) had died at sea. She was staying with her friend Lord John Grey (David Berry), who also loved Jamie. They were both distraught, and in their pain and grief, something unexpected happened: they had sex.
The cast and crew talked to Glamour about that surprising scene. “Everyone had big thoughts and feelings about that scene,” said executive producer Maril Davis. “But to me, it was a no-brainer. It had to be shown. I think it just shows the lengths or the depths of grief that's happening, that these two people who would never normally be together are thrown together in their joint grief and their need to connect to Jamie.”
It felt like we had to show some version of them together.

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 11 opens with the somber wedding of Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Lord John Grey (David Berry). Claire’s body is there, but her spirit is dead and her mind is occupied with memories of Jamie. She whispers her vows as if each word were a physical blow.
There’s a heart-wrenching pause before she manages to push out “until death do us part.” Lord John places the ring on her finger, and she removes it as soon as she returns to the bedroom she shared with the true love of her life.
Young Ian (John Bell) builds a cairn in Jamie’s memory and recites a prayer for his soul. Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) confirms some Quakers believe in heaven, but until proven, it’s just speculation. Ian takes comfort in thinking that...

The most recent new episode of Outlander, "Brotherly Love," ends with a monster twist: Lord John Grey (David Berry) delivers the bad news to his friend Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) that her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) has likely died on his way to the American colonies, since the ship he was on sunk.
Naturally, Claire is devastated. “There are a lot of twists and turns,” Balfe told TV Insider about Claire’s journey this season. “I think for Claire anyway, this is her reality. This is the news she’s been given, and...apart from how she feels, she has no reason really not to believe it.”
Now, if you're watching at home, you probably don't believe that Jamie is really dead; he's one of the main characters, actor Sam Heughan is the show's biggest breakout star, and we're only two episodes into season 7 part 2 with six to go. Odds...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7, Episode 10, “Brotherly Love.”] Outlander may have pulled Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) apart in the most recent Season 7 episode, “Brotherly Love,” but it brought another pair back together as Young Ian (John Bell) and Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) were reunited. After arriving in Philadelphia, Ian is greeted by his trusty dog Rollo, but Rachel is nowhere to be found after the pet wandered from her side to his. While much of the episode sees the pair missing each other, Ian is eventually directed to the stables where he finds Rachel being held up by Arch Bug (Hugh Ross), who has vowed to take her life after Ian killed his wife. While Ian manages to get Arch away from Rachel, it is William (Charles Vandervaart) who intervenes, shooting the old man to protect Ian from being axed in the head after taking a blade to the arm in the scuffle.

Outlander has returned for the second half of its seventh season, which began with several blasts from the past as Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) returned to Jamie's native Scotland. We see lots of faces from Jamie's past, including Laoghaire (Nell Hudson), his ex-wife.
Jamie and Laoghaire have had a tense relationship over the years, with lots of painful ups and downs, but Jamie feels the need to reach out to her and set things right. "He's an honourable man. He feels a sense of duty," Heughan told Radio Times. "And I also feel like there's still... despite their rather tumultuous, kind of crazy history that they've had together, there's still a part of him that remembers the young Jamie and the young Laoghaire."

Outlander producer Maril Davis explains how season 8 will try to offer a satisfying conclusion, despite the book series still releasing another installment. The historical drama, based on Diana Gabaldons novels, has captivated audiences with its sweeping love story between Claire Randall (Caitrona Balfe), a World War II nurse-turned-time traveler, and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), an 18th-century Highland warrior. The historical drama has garnered critical acclaim and a devoted audience, with Outlander season 8 striving to honor the series legacy.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Davis shared insights into the challenge of crafting a satisfying conclusion for the beloved series. While there is no official release date for the finale, Davis assures Outlander's ending will honor both the shows legacy and the ongoing book series, which has at least one more installment yet to be published. Here's what she had to say:

Tomorrow, Starz will begin airing new episodes of Outlander, delivering the second half of the show's seventh season. The new season will continue digging into the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. We'll get to catch up with the likes of Jamie and Claire Fraser (Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe) as well as long-time Fraser family friends like Lord John Grey (David Berry) and John's "son" William (Charles Vandervaart), who is actually Jamie's son, even though Lord John Grey raised him.
William doesn't know Jamie is his real father yet, which will no doubt lead to all kinds of drama once the new episodes start up. In fact, Lord John Grey is such a dynamic character that Gabaldon has written a series of novels and novellas just focused on him, which has led to a lot of fans asking for a Lord John Grey spinoff over the years. For Outlander fans who have long longed for a Lord John Grey spinoff, David Berry, who plays the character in the original Starz series, has some insight to share.
As a refresher, the hit Outlander series, which will conclude its run with the upcoming eighth season, is based on the best-selling novels by Diana Gabaldon. She also authored a Lord John Grey series consisting of three novels and six novellas, which Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch has shown interest in expanding into a TV series of its own. There have been no major developments on that front yet.
Berry opened up about what transpired behind the scenes in a chat with Deadline earlier today while promoting the mothership series’ upcoming Season 7 Part 2 premiere on November 22 via Starz.
“I haven’t spoken about this. But I think that since the series is over, I feel a bit more comfortable talking about it,...

Before the long-running, beloved fantasy series comes to an end, Outlander must answer some pressing questions as season 7, part 2, and season 8 loom. Sam Heughan and Caitrona Balfe have played Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall Fraser in the Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's book series since the premiere in 2014. After many years and instances of time travel since then, Claire and Jamie have found themselves in the thick of many revolutions and world events. As Outlander Season 8 draws closer, how the series will wrap up the story is of great importance.
It's been confirmed that Outlander season 8 will change the book's ending since Gabaldon likely won't be finished writing the last book in the series before season 8 premieres. As Outlander season 8 has already wrapped filming ahead of the premiere of season 7, part 2, the story's finale has been set in stone, and hopefully, the creative team has worked to wrap up every loose end.

“Outlander” fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for their happily ever after because that’s not what the second half of Season 7 is promising. Tied to New York Comic Con, Starz dropped a new trailer for this upcoming batch of episodes. Prepare for some serious heartache.
The trailer for the second half of Season 7 starts happily enough. As Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) stand together, Jamie says, “We got our own wish. We’re going home to Scotland.”
That peace is short lived when Claire is called away. While she’s separated from her love, she receives some dark news. “A storm’s coming. And not one of this Earth but one of my own making,” someone ominously says. The trailer then shows a panicked looking Jamie before cutting to an English officer holding a gun. As Claire hears the news, she tears up.

A crucial Outlander season 7, part 1 detail makes me think William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) will learn the truth about Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) very soon. With Outlander season 7, part 2 on the horizon and Outlander season 8 officially confirmed to be the historical epic's final outing the series' biggest threads will come to a head in the next batch of episodes. The seventh season of the series, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books, introduced an adult William Ransom, Jamie's illegitimate son who was raised by Lord John Grey (David Berry).
Outlander is never short on dramatic twists and turns, which is one of the reasons I love the series. At this point, William's lineage is one of the more compelling storylines. Despite being the biological son of Jamie and Geneva Dunsany (Hannah James), William is the heir of Earl Ludovic Ransom. To recap, Geneva died shortly after giving birth to William.

It’s that time of year again, when the TV academy announces its annual list of Emmy nominations, and “Outlander” fans worldwide are left scratching their heads wondering why their favorite show was left off of the list. Part 1 of Season 7 aired in 2023 from June 16 to August 11 on Starz, which makes it eligible for the 2024 Emmys. But alas, on Tuesday morning, the fantasy epic was not nominated in any category — moment of silence, please.
To be clear, “Outlander” hasn’t been nominated in any Emmy category in the past six years. It was last cited in 2018 for Best Period Costumes, losing to “The Crown.” It also lost that same race in 2016 to “Game of Thrones.” Its only other bids were for Best Period Production Design in 2016, losing to “Downton Abbey,” and Best Music Composition in 2015, losing to “House of Cards.”
