Genre Wins at The Second Annual Streamy Awards

Genre Wins at The Second Annual Streamy Awards
The second annual Streamy Awards were held in Los Angeles this weekend.  With FEARnet's own Fear Clinic nominated for a slew of awards, we were of course eager to check them out.  While Robert Englund didn't win best actor in a dramatic role, Fear Clinic did score wins for best sound design (Kunal Rajan) and best visual effects (Jason M. Bergman, Nicholas Onstad, Bethany Pederson, and David Dang).  The only other genre show to win was Compulsions, which won for best writing in a dramatic web series. Englund and his Fear Clinic co-star, Danielle Harris, were on hand to present the award for best director in a dramatic web series. Englund offered to give Harris a screen test right there on stage.  Her...

Horror Takes a Bite Out of The Streamy Awards - Almost Human Takes Home Two

During the Craft Awards portion of the 2010 Streamy Awards held the evening of April 7th, Robert Hall's Almost Human Digital Effects Studio took home two awards for its FearNet web series "Fear Clinic", which stars Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, and Lisa Wilcox.

The Streamy Awards are basically the Oscars of Internet web series, which is a medium that is definitely coming into its own these days.

In the category of Best Sound Design, Kunal Rajan took home the prize; and for Best Visual Effects the Almost Human Digital team of winners included Jason Bergman, Nicholas Onstad, Bethany Onstad, Jason Knetge, Erik Porn, Ikuo Saito, and David Dang.

Hall (who also directed the web series) responded to the pair of wins saying, "It is an honor for 'Fear Clinic' to win two Streamy Awards. It demonstrates all the hard work that our entire team put into the

Streamys 2010 Nominees Announced

  • HeyUGuys
The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.

This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.

The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links
