Daniel K Maitland was born in Burlington Ontario, to parents Dan and
Debbie Maitland of Sudbury Canada. He has two siblings both are
accomplished baseball players playing at a collegiate and professional
levels. As a child his parents, both qualified sailors, placed the
family on a sail boat and set off to South America. It was on that
lengthy voyage that Daniel gained a thirst for telling stories
developed from the tales of sailors, preachers, beggars, mafia men,
soldiers, drug dealers, and other incredibly colorful characters his
family met along the way. Later these experiences would be the key
development for Daniel's love of both narrative and documentary
filmmaking
Years later after completing grade school Daniel attended the "Zaki Gordon Institute For Independent Filmmaking" where he gained a education in video story telling and found a forte for cinematography. Daniel then continued on to Southern Methodist University where he gained a degree in Cinema and Television.
Daniel K Maitland is now a Dallas based cinematographer who often shoots and/or direct commercials, music videos, short and feature narratives and documentaries.
