Tyler Michael Smith was born and raised the Nashville area where he began learning to play the piano at the age of five. During his teenage years, he began composing material of his own which eventually led to a collaboration with his brother, writer/director Ryan Whittaker, on the fantasy/thriller After (2012). He has since written scored a wide range of feature films including 90 Minutes in Heaven (2015), The World We Make (2019), Every Other Holiday (2018), and Washington's Armor: The Journey (2022).
