ANA LYDIA MONACO is a San Fernando Valley-born, Mexico-raised, multiracial Writer-Director (and furbaby momma) based in L.A. Her work focuses on elevating emotion with raw dramatic stories centered around people "in the process of becoming who they truly are."
Her stories highlight unique characters that feel relatable. At the same time, Ana Lydia's background in photography, publicity, and her interest in socio-political issues have often led to her work being described as "if Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson had a baby, but it was raised by Frida Kahlo."
Ana Lydia's authentic and unique voice has not only resonated with audiences but also propelled her scripts to remarkable success. Her work has been recognized and celebrated at key industry fellowships and festivals, including the prestigious Austin Film Festival. With over 50 laurels worldwide, many of which have secured international distribution, her success is a testament to her talent and the universal appeal of her work.
Before embarking on her career as a Writer-Director, Ana Lydia honed her skills in various roles in the industry. She worked in post-production for Apple TV+, produced for Vice, and a Sundance Feature Documentary. She was credited on notable projects such as Disney's Mulan, Vice's Crimewave, Jay Mohr's Netflix Comedy Special, and The Boston Lyric Opera's Desert Inn.' Her versatility is further demonstrated by her experience in the commercial world, where she directed and produced branded films for Union Bank, The Smithsonian, and Nissan.
