Giovanni's philanthropic interests include supporting and/or working with the Special Olympics, the Lupus Foundation, and the Sunshine Kids Foundation (the executive director of which is G.W. Bailey, her Major Crimes (2012) co-star).
She and her husband, UBS Financial VP Philip Ambrosino, have two daughters. The family pet is a long-haired Chihuahua.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and grew up in Katy, Texas.
Her father was a vice president of Haliburton Offshore Drilling; her mother, a special-education teacher.
Attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, and the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio.
A veteran of musical theater, her first Broadway role was in The Lion King. Other Broadway credits include Anything Goes, Catch Me If You Can, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Finian's Rainbow, Guys & Dolls, Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway, Sweet Charity, and Tarzan.
