Seville International said Tuesday it will sell international rights at the upcoming American Film Market to Advantages of Traveling by Train, the upcoming Spanish comedic horror pic being directed by Aritz Moreno and written by Javier Gullón (Enemy). Production is set to start in December with a cast that includes Luis Tosar, Ernesto Alterio, Pilar Castro, Belén Cuesta, Ingrid García Jonsson, Javier Botet and Gilbert Melki. The plot centers on Helga, an editor and train traveler whose seatmate, a psychiatrist and an expert in personality dysfunctions, recounts to her the worst case he’s faced: the sordid and crazy tale of an extremely dangerous paranoid man obsessed with garbage. The story leads Helga down an unpredictable path as she sets out on an investigation following her encounter. Myriad Pictures will handle international sales at Afm on the SXSW supernatural thriller Fast Color starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Julia Hart directed the film about a woman forced to go on the run when her superhuman abilities are discovered but, years after abandoning her family, the only place she has left to hide is home.

In Today’s TV News Roundup, BBC One released new images for its adaptation of “Les Misérables,” and HBO teased an image for its upcoming superhero series “Watchmen.”

Starz has announced the season two premiere of its espionage thriller “Counterpart” on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. This season will feature newcomers Betty Gabriel as series regular Naya Temple and James Cromwell in a recurring role as Yanek. Joining Gabriel and Cromwell is J.K. Simmons who will reprise his role as Howard alongside Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Nicholas Pinnock, Nazanin Boniadi and Sara Serraiocco. “Counterpart” was created by Justin Marks who will also make his directorial debut on the series this season with executive producers Gary Gilbert, Jordan Horowitz, Morten Tyldum, Keith Redmon and Bard Dorros. ‘Counterpart’ Trailer: First Look At Season 2; Premiere Date Revealed

Starz has released the official trailer for the second season of sci-fi thriller Counterpart, and set a December premiere date for its return. Season 2 will debut day-and-date Sunday, December 9 in the U.S. and on Starzplay in the UK and Germany.

The 10-episode second season introduces new series regular Betty Gabriel as Naya Temple and Emmy winner James Cromwell in a recurring role as Yanek, joining star J.K. Simmons.

Season 2 finds Howard (Simmons) and his counterpart stranded in two different worlds, each having to adapt for survival. Howard Prime takes on his other’s life: going to his job, living in his home… with his wife. Howard Alpha is locked in a mysterious black site known as Echo, cut off from everyone he knows. Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s “Fast Color,” directed by Julia Hart, has been acquired by Lionsgate’s Codeblack Films, the distributor announced Thursday.

Topic Studios has come on board to finance and produce “The Climb,” a comedic drama from the filmmaking team of Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino.

The Climb” expands on the story and characters from the short film of the same title that premiered in the narrative competition at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Topic for its digital storytelling platform, Topic.com. In his feature film directorial debut, Covino will direct from a script he wrote with Marvin.

The film tells the story of the friendship between two lifelong friends, played by Covino and Marvin, over several chapters and spanning numerous years, marriages, heartbreaks and conflicts.

Topic Studios will finance and produce comedy drama The Climb from filmmaking team Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino, based on the short film of the same name that premiered in Sundance.

The Climb chronicles an epic lifelong friendship over several chapters and spans numerous years, marriages, heartbreaks and conflicts. Marvin and Covino star.
