Grant Cooper is a pretty tall Director of Photography with extensive experience in long and short
format work who has been exploring his borderline obsessive passion for cinematography
internationally for over a decade.
Cooper first began filming in the skateboard community, where he developed a detailed, vibrant style that's at once immersive and candid. How is that even possible?
I am glad I asked. By balancing a meticulous approach to composition with an authentic feel, Cooper creates images that become part of the performance through his use of movement, colour, and light. Though he loves a rich (ie. expensive) image, he's most invested in telling an engaging story with contrasting elements that add tension, atmosphere, and style to everything he shoots. That and gear...he's invested in a lot of gear.
As an Arri Alexa Mini LF owner currently based in Toronto, Canada, Grant enjoys working with collaborators who are pushing their craft and taking on challenging new projects all over the world.
