By the time you get down to four singers on "American Idol," the fanbases for the remaining singers tend to be very fiercely divided. And after Wednesday night's controversial showdown between judge Randy Jackson and singer Haley Reinhart, you can bet those fan clusters were even more at odds.

But when New York Times pop music critic Jon Caramanica dropped in to discuss Haleygate on Thursday's (May 12) "Idol Party Live," nobody expected the sparks to fly again when Jc (no, not Scotty McCreery's Jc, but Caramanica) and the other Jc (wow, that's weird), "Party" host Jim Cantiello, and Reinhart's Twitter brigade clashed over the harsh treatment the singer received from the Big Dog.

Anyone who's been paying attention this season knows Cantiello is a huge Haley booster,

'American Idol': Did the one semi-final round format work?

Thursday night (March 3), "American Idol" announced its Top 13 finalists. The first 10 were the top five male and female vote-getters, then the judges picked three Wild Cards after a live sing-off. What do you think of this format of having only one round of semi-finals?

We don't like it. We don't hate it either, but overall, we prefer to see the finalists perform more than once in the semi-final round.

The dangerous thing about this format, which is similar to Season 8 except it had a smaller pool of semi-finalists and was condensed to one week instead of strung out over four weeks, is that each finalist had to put forth only one good performance to make the finals. That opens the door for someone to get through who maybe isn't that good, but just had a good night. So far, it looks as though all the people who advanced are strong singers,

Video Premiere: Blake Lewis' 'Sad Song'

Blake Lewis' latest music video for "Sad Song" is released in full on Monday, September 21, one day prior to the official release on his MySpace. The music video is shot as a 1940s film-noir style story about the end of a couple's relationship, highlighted with some 40s-meets-80s style fashion and video editing.

The female lead is played by Casey Carlson who was also an "American Idol" contestant in the recent season 8. Casey only managed to advance to the semi-final round where she stumbled after singing The Police's "Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic". Blake himself was the runner-up of season 6, beaten by Jordin Sparks in the final round.

"Sad Song" is a single lifted from Blake's latest effort "Heartbreak on Vinyl" which will be released in the U.S. on October 6. "[It] is the culmination of over 10 years in the dance scene -- the music that gets me

We’re Live-Blogging The ‘American Idol’ Finale!

It’s here! It only took us 38 episodes, 17 weeks and one Tatiana del Toro, but the “American Idol” finale is just moments away!

Tonight I’m live-blogging from the actual honest-to-Gokey “American Idol” finale - but don’t get too excited. I’m not in the auditorium with the judges and the random celebrity guests and the Seacrest. I’m in a “press viewing party” in the basement of the Nokia Theatre, squeezed in between other (sweaty) media outlets and watching the show on a monitor. This is the glamorous underbelly of showbiz, folks, and taking a look around the room, I’d say put the emphasis on belly.

For those of you who need to get caught up to speed on tonight’s proceedings, it’s Battle Royale between Adam Lambert, a theatrical screaming banshee who revitalized the aging competition with a unique style and a coy/savvy depiction of his sexuality,
