Earlier this year, Amazon Studios agreed to co-finance the film, which will go into production at the beginning of 2018. As part of the pact, Amazon will invest more than a third of the movie’s budget, which is estimated to be in the $40 million range, according to insiders

'Bones' Says Goodbye After 12 Seasons: How the 'Squint Squad' Passed Every Test (Especially the Bechdel)

'Bones' Says Goodbye After 12 Seasons: How the 'Squint Squad' Passed Every Test (Especially the Bechdel)
When Bones signs off on Tuesday night, after 12 seasons on Fox, it will do so as the network’s longest-running scripted drama, having solved -- according to finale promos -- 275 cases in 246 episodes. And that prolific conviction rate may not even be the most impressive thing that the series accomplished.

Because Bones -- which was based on the life and works of real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs -- did more than just stay on the air, leapfrogging more than 20 different time slots in its 12-year run. In a television landscape populated with morose antiheroes and sarcastic protagonists that often poke fun at the earnestness of cops-and-science procedurals like Bones, sometimes directly by name (see: American Dad, Bojack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers and more), the show was a champion of justice and evidence, science and guts, “brains and heart.” It told new stories every week, while at the same time unfolding its central characters little by little, making

This series, loosely based Philip K. Dick’s novel of the same name, takes a look at what the world might look like had the outcome of World War II turned out differently. In this dystopian scenario, the Axis powers won the war, leading to the United States being divided into three parts, an area controlled by the Japanese, a Nazi-controlled section, and a buffer zone between the two. Despite the oppression, a new hope emerges when films turn

Amazon renews The Man in The High Castle for third season, new showrunner announced

Fans of The Man in The High Castle will be pleased by the news that Amazon has ordered a third season of their hit original drama. Furthermore, they have also named Bosch‘s Eric Overmyer as the new showrunner in the wake of previous showrunner Frank Spotnitz’s exit from the show.

Season one of The Man in The High Castle became Amazon Prime’s most streamed show at the time of its premiere. The series is based on Philip K. Dick’s 1962 novel which imagines the Axis powers winning World War II, with Germany conquering most of America while Japan controls the country’s West coast.

Frank Spotnitz developed the adaptation, but left amid rumours of tension with Amazon in the middle of the second season’s production. This left the existing production team to carry on without a proper showrunner, but now that Overmyer has been named as

‘The Man in The High Castle’: What It’s Like to Make A Show About Fascism in The Age of Trump
One of the hardest things about watching “The Man in the High Castle” is the swastikas. Worn casually as pins, strapped proudly to armbands, tastefully scattered around a seemingly ordinary American home — you see them everywhere. Turns out, it’s also one of the hardest parts of filming the show, as well.

“It’s jarring iconography, for sure,” D.J. Qualls told IndieWire during a recent press day for Season 2 of the Amazon series, which imagines what might have happened if the Axis powers, not the Allies, had won World War II. “When we shot the pilot, we were in Seattle and that was a day we had like 150 people in period costumes and Nazi uniforms walking around. And even though people could see that there were cameras around and trailers

TV Review: ‘Man in the High Castle,’ Season 2

TV Review: ‘Man in the High Castle,’ Season 2
The first season of “The Man in the High Castle,” Amazon’s television adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s alternate-history novel, was an oddly muted exercise in reorientation — in altering the audience’s assumptions about Nazis and World War II by bringing to a life a world where the war ended much differently. The plot of the first season was not terribly interesting, but that was beside the point; the point was seeing Nazi America on the Eastern seaboard, while the Empire of the Sun shone over California. It’s in its dreamlike vision that the show “Man in the High Castle” has anything in common with Dick’s story — in its details and grace notes, it is about the fungibility of culture, and how some values and aesthetics can become embalmed in hegemony, while others become curiosities to wonder at behind glass display cases. The how, for Dick, was less power than fate — he was enamored
