The Grinch's blood-red Santa Claus coat isn't the only splash of crimson that'll be decking the halls this holiday season. Inspired by Dr. Seuss's classic children's story, the hairy green villain is making a killer comeback in XYZ Films' new parody horror movie.
"The Mean One" - which got its title from the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," originally performed by Thurl Ravenscroft in the 1966 animated TV special "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" - reimagines the story of the infamous Grinch by sucking out all the childood whimsy and replacing it with a gruesome storyline that results in piles of blood-stained snow.
If Dr. Seuss's original Grinch was as cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel, it sounds like director Steven Lamorte's The Mean One (David Howard Thornton) is someone Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin) might need to fight off with a 39-and-a-half-foot pole.

Tom Spurgeon, the longtime comics industry journalist, historian, editor and author passed away at the age of 50 today, according to a Facebook post by his brother Whit Spurgeon.
Tom was best known for his comics industry news website The Comics Reporter since 2004, and for his five-year stint as Managing Editor and then Executive Editor of The Comics Journal from 1994 to 1999. The Comics Reporter won the Eisner Award for Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
The last time most of us saw Tom was at Baltimore Comic Con just a month ago. We always thought there would be more time to talk shop, discuss web site migration plans, and to gush about the medium we loved. And now there isn’t.
Karen Green has announced that the Global Webcomics Web Archive members have agreed that, despite it not strictly meeting their criteria, and barring any objections from stakeholders, The Comics Reporter will be archived.

Angel Corbin is having a busy – and highly productive – week. Not only will her first feature film, DisOrientation, have its world premiere screening at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard as part of the prestigious Dances With Films Film Festival this Saturday, she will, on Sunday, be accepting pitches from aspiring screenwriters at The Great American PitchFest on behalf of MOnsterworks66, the fledgling production company of which she is co-owner.
As if a Hollywood premiere and an appearance at PitchFest wasn’t enough, this incredibly busy actress/producer has also just landed a pivotal supporting role in Eric Michael Kochmer’s Lynchian noir feature Way Down in Chinatown. As the cherry on the top, she has also been named Producer on the project, along with Jonathan Haloossim of 22Mm Productions and Maria Olsen, Corbin’s partner-in-crime at MOnsterworks66.
There is, however, one thing that Corbin still lacks…...
