‘American Idol’ Recap: Auditions Bring ‘Chill Bumps,’ Puppy Love and Tearjerkers

‘American Idol’ Recap: Auditions Bring ‘Chill Bumps,’ Puppy Love and Tearjerkers
On the fourth episode of “American Idol” auditions, country icon Kenny Rogers made a cameo appearance — in the form of advice learned and dispensed by judge Lionel Richie: “In pop music, you hit the right notes, while in country music you hit the real notes.”

Alas, plenty of wrong notes were also struck in one of the funniest episodes of the “Idol” reboot season. It was also the cutest show so far as birthday girl Katy Perry was surprised by fellow judges Richie, Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest with cake and puppies. She was even gifted with a

American Idol Recap: A Sibling Rivalry Is Born as Season 16 Auditions Roll On
Remember that episode of Full House where D.J. auditions for a cereal commercial, only to have it inadvertently stolen out from under her by Stephanie?

That’s the situation American Idol nearly found itself in on Monday when Katy Perry and Lionel Richie asked 20-year-old Payton Taylor — who only attended the auditions to play back-up guitar for her sister, 18-year-old Taryn Coccia — to step up to the spotlight and take her own shot at stardom.

Fortunately, Idol‘s version of this story ended with both sisters getting golden tickets, but methinks the drama is far from over. I’ve

‘American Idol’ recap: Night 4 of Season 16 with judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie [Updating Live Blog]
American Idol” continues its first season on ABC and the March 19 episode of auditions promises more of the same hi-jinks that we saw on Sunday’s show. The three judges — pop princess Katy Perry, country superstar Luke Bryan and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter Lionel Richie — are certainly having fun with each other and the contestants. As always, Ryan Seacrest plays ringmaster, wrangling the judges while welcoming the would-be singers.

This reality-competition series has made stars out of some of the winners (like season 4 champ Carrie Underwood) and judges (Simon Cowell became a household name and producer of such hits as “America’s Got Talent”). Kelly Clarkson, the very first winner of “American Idol” way back in 2003, just started as a judge on NBC’s “The Voice.”

While Seacrest oversaw the 15 seasons of “American Idol” on Fox, the three judges are new to this ABC version. Perry ignited a controversy on night

The Voice Top 11 Performance Recap: Songs in the Key of Life or Death

Upon hearing that The Voice‘s Top 11 would be performing songs suggested by viewers, I thought, “Hey, at least we can’t do any worse than Miley Cyrus assigning ‘Delta Dawn’ to Ashland Craft or Adam Levine sticking Adam Cunningham with ‘Against All Odds.'” And who among us hasn’t said to themselves, “No, no, no, don’t give so-and-so that song, give them this song!” then added for emphasis, “Jeez, why would you be so cruel to a member of your own team, Coach?!?” Personally, I wanted to hear Chloe Kohanski try something from the Sia catalog, Noah Mac rock Franz Ferdinand,

Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Mean Tweets’ Take Country Stars Down a Peg on CMAs Night (Video)
Wednesday’s CMAs had some country music artists feeling good about themselves. Jimmy Kimmel took care of that hubris immediately afterward. The ABC late-night show’s “Mean Tweets – Country Music Edition #3” contained some pure Twitter gold, as read to-camera by the targeted singers and musicians. The annual segment started with this one: “The Zac Brown Band is on three radio stations at the same time… as you can imagine, this is the worst day of my life.” As you can imagine, TheWrap had to fix some of this grammar and spelling for readability. Check some more of the insults below.

'Mean Tweets' Goes Country with Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton and More
No one is safe from the vitriol of Twitter's meanest haters -- not even beloved musicians.

Jimmy Kimmel's hilarious "Mean Tweets" segment has humbled movie stars, professional athletes and even the former president of the United States, and has now once again turned its sights on country stars.

On Wednesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live, fans got a chance to see how some of the biggest names in country music react when faced with the truly awful things their haters have spewed on the social media platform -- and it's amazing.

Some of the comments were just flat-out insulting, like one tweet directed at Chris Stapleton, which said that the singer-songwriter "proves that ugly people can still win awards."

News: Gal Gadot, Jake Gyllenhaal, Elisabeth Moss and More Read New 'Mean Tweets'

Other haters resorted to some pretty outlandish hyperbole to get their hatred across, like the Twitter user who said that the time heard The Zac Brown Band on three radio
