Mark is a European Film Academy nominated writer/director from the midlands of Ireland. His first feature was 2015's award-winning "You're Ugly Too" starring Aidan Gillen that premiered at the 65th Berlinale and was nominated for a European Film Academy Young Audience award. The film screened at over a hundred film festivals worldwide, winning the Directors Guild of America Finder's Series in Los Angeles, Best Screenplay Awards in Tokyo and Athens, Best Feature Screenplay from the Writers Guild of Ireland, Best Debut Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh and Best Breakthrough Feature at Boston. His debut feature documentary "Kevin Roche: The Quiet Architect" (2017) was selected for the Venice Biennale in 2018 and acquired for distribution in North America by Kino Lorber and Germany by Salzgeber. Mark is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents (2011) and Toronto Film Festival Talent Lab (2016) and been awarded writing fellowships from the Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris (2016), the Nipkow/Berlinale Programm in Berlin (2019), and Pustnik Screenwriters residency in Romania (2021). He was mentored by Peter McKenna ("Kin") in the writing of his first original TV pilot script which earned him a place on the 2023 BBC Writersroom. He is a member of the European Film Academy and the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.
