Roman Koprivik was born on 10. 3. 1962 in Chrudim. He spent his childhood in North Bohemian city Vrchlabí and later on he moved to Prague. Since the year 1980 he has worked as a librarian, night doorman, postman and assistant director at Barrandov studios, Prague. In 1987 he graduated from the Film and TV school of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the field of screenwriting and script editing. In the next two years his radio adaptations Zlocin v Orcivallu, Spravedlnost Arsena Lupina and Kocar do Vidne were aired in the Czechoslovakian radio and his production Nekdo zaklepal na dvere was shown in the Czechoslovakian television.
Between 1990 and 1992 he worked as a Czech radio editor, and later on as a freelancer in the advertisement business. After that he started his career as a TV screenwriter and script editor. He was author of scripts for children and entertainment TV shows and also script editor of several TV projects. He also wrote a book inspired by his career in the marketing industry Prask! Bum! Cvak! which also became a draft for the radio play.
During that time he published a series of short stories for the Czech radio about the mysteries of Prague called Tichy poutnik.
After 2008 he worked as editor of scripst for long-running TV series such as Rodinna pouta, Velmi krehke vztahy, Ordinace v ruzove zahrade II, Vypravej, V.I.P. vrazdy, V.I.P. vrazdy II and Temny kraj.
He is also author of scripts for radio detective stories Hrichy pro posluchace rozhlasu (story by Dusan Klein), TV film Hasici and TV series Znameni kone and Znameni kone II. From 2017 until 2020 he was a head writer on the long-running TV series Modry kod.
