After graduating with Distinction from Western University, Toronto-born cinematographer Michael Jari Davidson built a strong reputation with his work ethic, creative eye, and tenacious spirit. Known for his retro classical style, Davidson prefers to align himself with maverick projects and filmmakers, with his work having aired on SuperChannel and MuchMusic, released theatrically in Canada and in festivals around the world, including Fantasia, Toronto After Dark, ShriekFest, Leeds, Morbido, Crypticon, and Sitges. Davidson's work has been also highlighted in magazines such as Canadian Cinematographer and Kodak's InCamera.
Michael has lensed nine feature films, including ANYTHING GOES released in Canada by eOne Films, as well as music videos for major label artists such as ALICE IN CHAINS (Capitol Records), DEAR ROUGE (Universal), TEGAN AND SARA (Warner), and BUCK65 (Warner). Produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, Michael's ninth feature film FIRST ROUND DOWN just completed post-production at Deluxe Toronto to be released by Unobstructed View Inc.
In March 2010, Davidson was named as a Director Ex-Officio of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, serving for four years. In August 2010, Davidson was welcomed to the membership as a Director of Photography in I.A.T.S.E. 667, the International Cinematographers Guild.
