Avo John Kambourian is an editor and assistant editor born and raised in Los Angeles.
From an early age, Avo gravitated towards storytelling by writing articles and creating short documentaries about artists within his own Armenian community. In 2022 he was nominated for the ACE Student Eddie, which inspired him to pursue the craft of editing and help filmmakers bring their stories to the screen.
Most recently, Avo had the opportunity to serve as apprentice editor on The Lost Bus, directed by Paul Greengrass for Apple Studios and Blumhouse. His prior assistant editor credits include STEVE! a 2-part documentary about the legendary comedian Steve Martin, as well as Piece by Piece, a first of its kind animated LEGO documentary about the life of musician and producer Pharrell Williams. Both directed by Academy Award winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, the latter of which will be released in theaters by Focus Features.
As an editor Avo prides himself on not being defined by genres. Having worked on everything from documentary, horror, drama, and comedy. In 2024, a short film he co-edited, Neither Donkey, Nor Horse, premiered at Telluride Film Festival and won a Student Academy Award.
He is currently editing his first animated film from Director C. Craig Patterson.
