    Oblivious to the fact that a film adaptation was in production 18 miles West of his apartment in Portland, Oregon, Adam first read the novel "Coraline" (written by Neil Gaiman) in December of 2007 after he and his wife viewed the film Stardust (2007) which was based on a book by the same author. The very next month, Adam was offered a position on the film Coraline (2009).
