Mini Bio (1)

Alanna Blair (they/them) specializes in the unexpected.

You may have seen Alanna attempt assassination on The Blacklist's Season 7 finale, or take a fall for their student in New Amsterdam's pilot. Dig deeper and you'll find characters like a reptilian bassist (LES Asides), a pregnant heroin survivor (Spring Street). An ongoing collaboration with improv-focused filmmaker Daniel Kremer has resulted in seven films so far, with characters ranging from a wide-eyed New York noob (A Simple Game of Catch) to a con artist inspired by Marie Castaldo (Even Just).

In apocalyptic short film Prime Matter, Alanna's character Celia is stuck between their frantic sister and a free shuttle bus. Alanna was also Prime Matter's cowriter and sound editor.

Stage projects include "Above Us," a devised two-character rooftop drama (New York Fringe Festival), and "The Waste Land" adapted to stage (Edinburgh Fringe Festival). Alanna's character as Becky on a Mission in "Unrepresentable" is a call to action for white actors to demand intersectional feminism in the entertainment industry.

Alanna sports a BFA from CalArts, with New York training from Apartment 929, The Barrow Group, and Difficult Women. A livelong lover of music, they produce and dj drum and bass music as TGRbass. Alanna sings and plays bass guitar in rock bands including Just Fabulous, Sumpumps, and Sababa.

After moving to the east coast, Alanna teamed with "Manson: the Musical" friends Alex Dunbar and J Steinberg to form the epic garage-funk-punk-comedy band SABABA Rocksyourfaceoff.
Alanna plays piano, mallet percussion, and bass guitar. They learned to play guitar at Strings N Things, Memphis's legendary guitar store.
