Starburst Festival 2018: ‘Your Flesh Your Curse’ Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Marie-Louise Damgaard Nielsen, Rose Milling, Louise Gammelgaard, Bill Hutchens, Kim Sønderholm, Frederik Carlsen, Emma Nymann, Paw Terndrup | Written and Directed by Kasper Juhl

When young drug addict Juliet White dies, she doesn’t find herself in hell but somewhere far worse. Forced to relive the traumas and abuse of her days on earth, guided by a mysterious masked figure, Juliet must not only endure but find something new in her suffering.

Take the characters and general milieu from Shane Ryan’s My Name is A by Anonymous, throw in some psychosexual imagery and general sleaze as seen in the likes of Dustin Mills’ work, then mix in a melancholic, melodramatic soundtrack and declare yourself as the next Lars Von Trier and you have Your Flesh Your Curse - a film that spends its entire runtime trying to tell the audience that womens “flesh” is their curse. As in because

Short Film Review – Neon (2016)

Tom Jolliffe reviews the short film Neon, which premiered at FrightFest 2016…

It’s a difficult task to create a short film which captivates and challenges an audience. This I know first hand. One might assume that you can pick up a camera and shoot something for nothing. In theory you could, but you leave yourself at the mercy of people working out of kindness or as a first dip of their toe into shooting something. The truth is even with short films you still need to spend money. You are fighting against a lack of demand for them. You’re trying to pull in financing for something that people will generally be loathe to finance due to a lack of perceived return. In some regards it’s hard to capture your audience too. A singular short is very truncated. If it’s not episodic, to some there is no reason

  • Nerdly
For the very first time The Human Centipede (First Sequence) and The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) are available as a collectable 4-disc Special Limited Edition Dual Format (Blu Ray & DVD) Steelbook, courtesy of the folks at Monster Pictures. For those not brave enough to dive head-first into the seedy world of Human Centipede, we’ve dipped our toe into the murky waters and taken a look at this new limited edition – complete with all new, never before seen, extras!

The official synopsis: “Film Director Tom Six’s Award winning vision begins with The Human Centipede (First Sequence) . Here we are introduced to retired surgeon Dr Heiter, a man who harbours a sick lifetime fantasy of being the first person to create a Siamese triplet. He just requires the necessary pieces . Two pretty American girls walk unwittingly up to his door in search of help when their car breaks down & find themselves on his operating table,

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence’ Grows Exceedingly Tedious

Chicago – With this sequel to his 2009 cult hit, filmmaker Tom Six appears to have finally mistaken stomach-churning exploitation for nightmare-inducing terror. No quality scares could possibly be produced by this hollow enterprise, only nauseated groans. The first flick was diverting B-movie schlock. This is just a tedious and obnoxiously tasteless retread.

The action opens on a dangerously disturbed security guard, Martin (played by newcomer Laurence R. Harvey), who spends most of the workday whacking innocent bystanders over the head with a crowbar, while somehow never managing to kill them. His love of the original “Human Centipede” has led him to stitch together his own multi-human digestive system comprised of no less than twelve victims. Yet Martin’s utter lack of scientific prowess has resulted in his use of unsophisticated tools, such as a staple gun.

Blu-ray Rating: 2.0/5.0

Harvey’s profoundly creepy face is by far the best thing in the picture.

Trailer and stills from Saint Dracula - the first ever 3D Dracula movie

Here are the first trailer and images from Rupesh Paul's Saint Dracula, which is being called the first ever 3D Dracula movie. The cast includes Mitch Powell, Patricia Duarte, Daniel Shayler and Bill Hutchens. I would rather watch somem of the classic Dracula movies instead of this. The movie looks like it's trying ot overcompensate with fast camera movements and loud sounds for lack of scares.

Synopsis:

"Longing for vengeance, he waited in hunger and thirst for his long lost admirer. The night hid him in the dark, the earth and the woods were his haven. He is a fallen angel, a catastrophic lover, the trodden Prince of Wallachia, but a vampire in revenge. His partisans await his reprise with a celebration. He turns lucky in love, if not for ever. Beautiful nights of love and lust entangle him with his lost love-Clara, a passionate young nun but still a mortal.

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) Movie Review

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) Movie Review
Title: The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) Directed By: Tom Six Starring: Laurence R. Harvey, Ashlynn Yennie, Maddi Black, Dominic Borrelli, Lucas Hansen, Dan Burman, Bill Hutchens From the moment The Human Centipede (First Sequence) met the public eye, it’s been clear that writer-director Tom Six is a man who really relishes attention. Sure, he deserves to be proud of the shot-in-the-dark turned horror fad, but Six takes that newfound clout way too far delivering a sequel that shows zero restraint, is oozing with egoism and is utterly unwatchable. Martin’s (Laurence R. Harvey) a small, plump and seemingly mute man who works in a London parking garbage. He wears glasses,...

Review: The Human Centipede 2 [Full Sequence]

  • Nerdly
The Human Centipede 2 [Full Sequence]

Stars: Laurence R. Harvey, Ashlynn Yennie, Maddi Black, Kandace Caine, Dominic Borrelli, Bill Hutchens | Written and Directed by Tom Six

Tom Six brought the world one of the most notorious, ridiculous and talked about films of recent times with his cult 2009 horror The Human Centipede. Now he returns with the sequel, recently having been itself cut up by the BBFC in order not to be banned entirely, which promises to make the first film look like, in its director’s words, ‘My Little Pony’. It was not without trepidation that I approached The Human Centipede 2 [Full Sequence]. Not having seen the first film (through circumstance rather than choice), I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I knew what a so-called ‘human centipede’ involved, of course (and if you don’t know, you can look it up). Would this sequel be gross-out torture porn? Tongue in cheek (pun intended) black comedy?
