‘Game of Thrones’: 6 Signs That Cersei Is Turning Into Her Brat Joffrey

‘Game of Thrones’: 6 Signs That Cersei Is Turning Into Her Brat Joffrey
Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) may have moved up in the world, but she seems to have regressed when it comes to her personality. In fact, day by day, she starts to resemble another spoiled and power-hungry despot that we’ve seen on “Game of Thrones” before: Her late son, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson).

This would explain so much, though. While her kids Myrcella and Tommen were kind of sweet (perhaps taking after Jaime, who is a fool for love and shows signs of a conscience), Joffrey was the bad egg, rotten to the core, and without any redeeming qualities. At the time, he had seemed like an anomaly, the twisted result of the DNA lottery that comes with inbreeding. But now that Cersei the Queen Mother has become the sole monarch, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of Westeros, she’s been exhibiting signs that make it clear

Review: Game of Thrones – Season 7 – Episode 3

Is it too late to change my bet to Lannister?

Season 7 of Game of Thrones seems to be following a specific pattern. Each episode slowly moves the plot along, before a 10 minute explosive final scene. Last week, we saw Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) utterly annihilate Yara’s (Gemma Whelan) fleet. This week, we saw the Greyjoys utterly annihilate the Unsullied’s fleet, whilst Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) looked on powerlessly. And saw Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) take Highgarden, only to receive the last bitter admission of Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg). All this in the last 5 minutes.

But I’m getting ahead of myself a little. There was plenty more to appreciate here than the final scene of chaos. So we might as well start at the top.

In a moment that fans have wanted since the story began, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) finally meet. And its glorious.

Latest Game Of Thrones Season 7 Set Pics Come With Some Fairly Major Spoilers

A batch of recent Game of Thrones season 7 set snaps would seem to confirm some plot rumors relating to Theon Greyjoy's evil uncle Euron (Pilou Asbæk) and several of the Dornish characters. The pics surfaced over at Warchers on The Wall, and give us a pretty clear look at Euron and his men leading some very familiar looking prisoners through the rainy streets of King's Landing: Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), Ellaria (Indira Varma) and Tyene Sand (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers). Those rumors suggested that Euron would be victorious in a massive sea battle that saw "at least one" of The Sand Snakes killed, and the fact that neither Obara (Keisha Castle-Hughes) or Nymeria (Jessica Henwick) are present here could well mean they both fell to pirate swords during the confrontation. Though these characters are very popular in the books, fans of their live-action counterparts are few and far between - so

Sliff 2015 Review: The Dinner

The Dinner poses an interesting question, several actually. And I’m not talking about whether to go with red or white wine, wise-acres. It’s an exploration of families, of the dynamic of two adult brothers, their wives and children. Established roles are reversed and secrets are shared as old clashes rise to the surface. The film also gives us two moral options and asks on which (or whose) side would you go. It gives us a lot to mull over as the desert cart wheels toward the table.

The title refers not to a big family feast, but rather an intimate weekly dinner for two couples, the brothers and their wives, in an upscale restaurant in Rome. At least one half of the table never looks forward to this “obligation”. That would be brother Paolo (Luigi Lo Cascio), a busy surgeon who shares a big apartment with his wife

Dressing for The Dinner by Anne-Katrin Titze

The Dinner (I Nostri Ragazzi) director Ivano de Matteo Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze

Ivano de Matteo philosophised with me, first at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and then at the Barbetta Open Roads: New Italian Cinema lunch, about justice, ethics, adapting Herman Koch's novel with screenwriting partner Valentina Ferlan, and how a switch in lighting can make a subliminal difference.

Massimo Lauri (Alessandro Gassman):"I wanted to create an aseptic, cold environment."

I threw Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, Alfred Hitchcock's Rope, a scene from Paolo Virzi's Human Capital (Il Capitale Umano) with Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and the texture of nightmares into the family circle of his film The Dinner (I Nostri Ragazzi).

Alessandro Gassman, Luigi Lo Cascio, Barbora Bobulova, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, and Jacopo Olmi Antinori form a formidable ensemble where each part can shatter the whole.

Recap & Review: "Game of Thrones" Season 5 Episode 9, "The Dance of Dragons"

The ninth episode of every season of "Game of Thrones" is the one people remember. The last four seasons gave us the fate of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), the Battle of the Blackwater, the Red Wedding, and the Battle of the Wall. For season five, the memorable action-packed episode was delivered early in the form of "Hardhome", but "The Dance of Dragons" features an ending that should find its way into that pantheon. Before that ending, the show has a bit of business to take care of to set up the finale. In Dorne, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Prince Doran (Alexander Siddig) broker an unstable peace. Doran, again, recounts his horrendous experiences with war which serve to highlight why he is, seemingly, willing to do anything to prevent hostilities with King's Landing. He is even willing to let Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) return with Jaime provided his son, Trystane (Toby Sebastian

Recap & Review: "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Episode 7... Winter Has Never been Closer

Snow has never been a good thing on "Game of Thrones". This week's episode, sees snow falling, and falling hard, on many of the characters. "Winter is coming" may be the words of House Stark but everyone is starting to realize this is the stark truth. Even as we move south and across the Narrow Sea where it is still a bit too warm to snow, the specter of impending doom shrouds every interaction we see. "The Gift" is an episode that handles its darkness right. For me it doesn't reach the highs of "Kill the Boy" but is a marked improvement over last week's "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken". Let's dive in. We have to start by dealing with the repercussions of the closing moments of last week's episode. Several days have passed and Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) has been assaulting Sansa (Sophie Turner) every night. Bruises are visible all over her
