‘Nancy Drew’ Review: The CW’s Dark but Simple Twist on a Classic Has Potential

  • Indiewire
The CW is currently most well-known for two things: Greg Berlanti’s supreme network dominance in the form of DC Comics superhero shows and “Riverdale.” The latter, also known as “Hot Archie Who Fucks,” has been a runaway hit for the network, with its powers (in terms of viewership and in finding middle-aged men to fight Archie Andrews) only growing stronger every time a new season hits Netflix after the broadcast airing. So the pairing of “Riverdale” and the new mysterious show on the block “Nancy Drew” — aka “Nancy Drew Who Fucks” — is arguably a brilliant choice for the network, a no-brainer. Dark reimaginings of the squeakiest of clean, youth-oriented stories make perfect sense working together to the common goal of ratings success.

But the pairing of “Riverdale” and “Nancy Drew” is also a potentially dangerous choice, specifically when it comes to the presentation of the latter. Because while there

The Banana Splits Movie Trailer Brings the Horror to SyFy
We have a brand new trailer for The Banana Splits Movie. This trailer was revealed in honor of the movie getting a premiere date on Syfy, which is set for October 12. Much like the first trailer, it's very clear this is a full-blown, R-rated, horror-driven take on this beloved children's classic. How or why this came to be remains a mystery, but this is happening and we have a bloody look at what's coming our way.

It was initially revealed back in February that The Banana Splits were being revived. One might have thought that would include a new TV series that would have been aimed at children, much like the original 1960s TV series. Instead, it was stated that the reboot was, confusingly, going to be a horror movie. Once the first trailer debuted, many began making comparisons, rightfully so, to the popular video game Five Nights at Freddy's.

It would seem Warner Bros., through production company Blue Ribbon Content, have taken a leaf out of Universal’s Dtv playbook and commissioned a series of direct to market, low-to-mid budget movies that capitalise on existing franchises. Whereas Universal created a myriad of sequels to popular action franchises like Death Race

A New Clip from The Banana Splits Movie

  • Comicmix
There’s a certain generation that will recognize the names Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, and Snorky. Together, they are the Banana Splits, a pop band aimed at children, headliners of The Banana Splits Animation Hour which ran on NBC Saturday mornings from September 7, 1968, to September 5, 1970. The arrived at a time when children’s television was welcoming more live-action production.

Hanna-Barbera, which ruled Saturday morning animation during the 1960s, asked Sid and Marty Kroft to design the band which would be men inside costumes, with celebrated voice actors lip-synching original saccharine tunes. So successful was this that the Krofts created their own show, H.R. Puffenstuff.

As nostalgia continues to fuel reboots and remakes, here comes a fresh one from Warner Home Entertainment.

The Banana Splits Movie arrives on digital streaming Tuesday, the 13th with a disc debut on August 27. The film offers a new take on the classic characters. The film

The Banana Splits Movie Trailer is Here to Creep You Out

Kirsten Howard Jun 14, 2019

These aren't the Hanna-Barbera characters you remember. Mainly because they never killed anyone. That we know of.

While we sit and twiddle our thumbs waiting for a Five Nights At Freddy's movie, Syfy's Banana Splits Movie will seemingly go some way to keeping us sated for a bit.

Gore is not the first thing you tend to think of when reminiscing about the beloved live-action Hanna-Barbera series, but Fleegle the Beagle, Bingo the Gorilla, Drooper the Lion, and Snorky the Elephant are coming back in a rather more violent capacity to dish out some bloody vengeance in The Banana Splits Movie.

Directed by Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16) and written by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas, this reimagining of the 'Splits takes them down a dark path, one that they likely never envisioned when they blessed the small screen back in '68 to '70. The original actors to wear the
