A. Patrick Rose is an Emmy-nominated television and film composer known for his work on projects such as SEAL Team (CBS), Nashville (NBC), and Under the Dome (CBS).
After growing up playing the trombone and singing in musical theater in the Salt Lake City area, Rose began college as an aerospace engineer at Utah State University. He quickly found however he was spending all his time in their modular synth lab, playing in the orchestra, putting together bands on campus, and performing as a member of "The Glenn Miller Show" (an annual floorshow at the university recreating the Glenn Miller USO big-band era). Rose eventually shifted his course of study to music and in his senior year became one of the founding members of the a-cappella band, Eclipse 6.
Rose spent the next few years producing records for and touring with Eclipse 6. In 2002, the band was featured in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Winter Games where Rose worked with multiple Emmy Award-winning composer Mark Watters who was composing and music directing for the Games.
The experience with Watters cemented a desire to pursue film scoring and following a recommendation from Watters, Rose moved to Boston in 2003 to attend Berklee College of Music where he honed his composing/arranging chops at the school's many concerts and showcases including being a featured arranger for Berklee's 60th Anniversary Concert as well as each semester for Berklee's marquee student concert, "Singer's Showcase".
In 2005, Rose moved to Los Angeles and shortly thereafter joined Emmy Award-winning composer and guitar player, Snuffy Walden's team. While there, he would work and collaborate with Walden and others contributing to a myriad of scores for shows such as The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The Beast. Even after leaving Walden's team, this relationship would prove long-lasting and continue to produce multiple collaborations between the two. Rose's Prime-Time Emmy nomination is for he and Walden's collaboration on CBS's SEAL Team.
Rose's early career in vocal music continues to influence his writing bleeding over even to his more action-driven scores. He continues compose and arrange vocal music for choirs and a-cappella groups as well as producing records for Eclipse 6. Rose's scores often nod to his early experiences and blend synths, vocals, and guitars with orchestral frameworks.
In addition to the Emmy Nomination, Patrick is the recipient of 3 BMI awards and 5 FCMA Pearl Awards.
