Scarlett Johansson tops the list of highest-paid female film stars for 2018

Forbes has revealed its annual list of the highest-paid female film stars in Hollywood, with Avengers: Infinity War star Scarlett Johannson taking first place with earnings of $40.5 million in the twelve months through to June 2018.

Johansson did not appear in last year’s top ten, which saw Oscar-winner Emma Stone claiming top spot with $26 million, while the actress has another bumper payday on the horizon, with Marvel reportedly set to give her a $25 million fee for the Black Widow solo movie – a record for a female star.

In second place this year is Angelina Jolie with $28 million thanks in part to the upcoming Disney sequel Maleficent II, while Jennifer Aniston is in third place, the majority of her $19.5 million earnings coming from endorsements rather than acting.

Here’s a look at the full top ten:

1. Scarlett Johansson $40.5m

2. Angelina Jolie $28m

3. Jennifer Aniston $19.5m

4. Jennifer Lawrence $18m

5. Reese Witherspoon $16.5m

Wonder Woman 1984 Star Gal Gadot Joins Forbes’ List Of Highest Paid Actresses

Earlier this week, it was revealed that none other than Black Widow herself, Scarlett Johansson, was the highest paid actress from June 1st, 2017 to June 1st, 2018, earning $40.5 million – pre-tax, mind you – which is almost double the total of her nearest competitor, Angelina Jolie. That said, Johansson’s far from the only superhero on the list.

According to Forbes, joining Johansson amongst the elite women of Hollywood is another McU leading lady, Cate Blanchett ($12.5M), who portrayed Hela in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Jennifer Lawrence ($18M) – although, it’s unclear if that picture will ever see the light of day – and Wonder Woman 1984 heroine, Gal Gadot ($10M).

Following her appearance in The Fast and the Furious film series, Gadot’s skyrocketed to stardom, due in no small measure to being cast as Diana of Themyscira, aka Wonder Woman, in the ill-fated DC Extended Universe. She

Wonder Woman 2 Cast Becomes The Breakfast Club in New 1984 Photo
The cast of Wonder Woman 1984 took a new group picture recreating John Hughes' The Breakfast Club movie poster. The sequel takes place in 1984, which is a year before the Hughes film hit theaters and became an 80s touchstone. Hughes' work in the 80s has come up a few times in the world of comic book movies lately. Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming did an impressive job of taking some elements from the teen movies that Hughes became known for and even recreated The Breakfast Club poster for online promotional material. And now, the cast of Wonder Woman 1984 are getting in on that fun as well.

The new Wonder Woman 1984 group photo features Gal Gadot as Molly Ringwald, Chris Pine as Anthony Michael Hall, Kristen Wiig as Ally Sheedy, Pedro Pascal as Emilio Estevez, and director Patty Jenkins as Judd Nelson. The picture doesn't offer any news on

Scarlett Johansson Is 2018's Highest Paid Actress in the World

Scarlett Johansson Is 2018's Highest Paid Actress in the World
It has been reported that Scarlett Johansson is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, earning $40.5 million from June 1st, 2017 to June 1st, 2018. Last year's highest paid actress was Emma Stone, who earned $26 million, thanks to the wildly successful La La Land. However, Stone did not earn over $10 million this past year, so she didn't make the list. Helping Johansson take the number one spot was the worldwide box office smash Infinity War. Johansson's Black Widow wasn't even really in the movie a whole lot, but the Marvel Studios project was enough to command her the top spot of highest paid actresses.

Avengers: Infinity War arrived in theaters at the end of April and delivered the goods to Marvel Cinematic Universe fans all over the world. To date, the film has brought in over $2 billion worldwide, easily making it the highest grossing movie of the year. Adding to Scarlett Johansson's earnings

Scarlett's Black Widow Dough and 2018's Highest Paid Actresses

I always find Forbes annual list of highest paid actresses suspect because when you dig into it you realize the huge sums aren't necessarily for acting but for being spokespersons for various products or fashion houses. Of course that requires the celebrity that comes from acting hence the fusion of commerce and art. With some mainstays of the list, like Jennifer Aniston who is on it every year, the money is largely for commercials with the films being commercials for her celebrity to keep the commercial endorsement business going. With others the money is largely the frequent hit films (Melissa McCarthy). Franchises definitely help: Cate Blanchett and Scarlett Johansson both made Marvel money this past year, Angelina Jolie's big number is her upfront pay for Maleficent 2, and Gal Gadot's is her sudden cash-in on her new celebrity from helping to make Wonder Woman such a massive global

Scarlett Johansson Surpasses Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston as Highest Paid Actress in Hollywood

Scarlett Johansson Surpasses Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston as Highest Paid Actress in Hollywood
Hollywood has a newly minted queen.

Scarlett Johansson has topped Forbes’ annual ranking of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses, surpassing Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston who came in at number two and three, respectively.

Emma Stone claimed the spot in 2017 with a cool $26 million, but Johansson — who has a number of Marvel films under her belt — brought in a huge $40.5 million this year, Forbes reported.

Marvel’s Avengers films are certainly a big reason for the actress’ earnings, with another film on the way which will feature Johansson’s Black Widow in 2019.

Johansson released two movies in 2017, Rough Night and Ghost in the Shell,

Legendary, Warner Bros. Near Distribution Deal (Exclusive)

Legendary Entertainment will likely leave its distribution and co-financing pact with Universal Studios early, according to multiple insiders. The company behind “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” is decamping for Warner Bros., its former home. A deal has yet to be signed, but the two entertainment players are in exclusive negotiations and are expected to come to an agreement shortly.

However, the deal will be much different than previous pacts that Legendary has signed, signaling a larger strategic shift that’s taken place at the company following a series of box office flops and the departure of its founder Thomas Tull in 2017. Namely, the Warner Bros. alliance will be a straight output deal, meaning that the studio will release Legendary’s films for a fee. It will not be a slate financing partnership, which was the kind of alliance that Legendary had at Warner Bros. during an eight-year relationship that ended in 2013. Warner Bros.

Latest Wonder Woman 1984 Set Photos Link to Real-Life Smithsonian Event
Wonder Woman 1984 is currently filming and some new set photos have been unearthed that feature a re-creation of the Smithsonian Institution Annual Fundraiser in Washington, D.C. The new pictures go along with the recent images of Gal Gadot in formal 1984 dress attire along with other members of the cast. However, what does the Smithsonian have to do with the plot of Wonder Woman 1984? As it turns out, there are a few ways that it could connect to two of the main characters.

As seen in Wonder Woman and Justice League, Diana Prince has a passion for art. In present times, Prince is a curator of the Louvre Museum, which would explain why her character would be at such an event, even in the year 1984. The Smithsonian has thousands of artifacts that might pique Prince's interest, and she may have even donated pieces to the organization over the years as well.
