'The Hummingbird Project': Film Review | Tiff 2018
Two cousins from New York want to construct a thousand-mile-long fiber-optic cable that runs in a straight line from Kansas to New Jersey in Kim Nguyen’s The Hummingbird Project. After his foreign-language Oscar nomination for War Witch, the French-Canadian director has made only Anglophone projects, writing and directing Two Lovers and a Bear, with Dane DeHaan, and Eye on Juliet, with Joe Cole, both titles feeling modest and somewhat messy in terms of their storytelling. Though not all of the messiness is gone, Nguyen has now clearly stepped up his game in terms of his ambition here, casting Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgard ...

Vincent D’Onofrio Consults Twitter Before Accepting Racist Role in TV Drama, Says Our National Morality ‘Is in Shreds’
As “BlacKkKlansman” hit theaters this weekend, Emmy nominee Vincent D’Onofrio found himself in a position familiar to that film’s co-star, Topher Grace. In Spike Lee’s Cannes prizewinner, Grace portrays longtime white supremacist David Duke, who made headlines at last year’s “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. On Saturday, D’Onofrio asked his 180,000 Twitter followers for feedback on whether he should accept a role in an unannounced television show that would task him with playing an “irredeemable racist” based on a real person:

I am going to ask a question to everyone that cares to answer it. I have an opinion which I will not reveal. Is Now the right time (considering the world in which live right now) for me to play a real to life characte who is irredeemable racist in a dramatic series?

Chilling Fan Art Imagines Dane DeHaan As Jason Todd/Robin

If you were to gather a dozen or so Batman fans in a room and ask them who their favorite Robin is, I very much doubt that you’ll come away with a unanimous response. I say that because, over the years, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Stephanie Brown and Carrie Kelley have each accrued their own rabid followings. And though most have since gone on to take up other superhero identities, none will soon forget their respective times as the Dark Knight’s apprentice.

When it comes to Jason Todd, though, I’m willing to make the bold statement that a fair amount of his fans were made well after his stint as the Boy Wonder. Having previously been murdered by the Joker and later resurrected, the volatile young man has since adopted the guise of the Red Hood, who’s often been regarded as one

Celebrities took to social media in the hours after news of Bourdain’s death was confirmed to both honor the late television host and encourage people not to ignore mental illness and to use suicide prevention hotlines.

“Stunned and saddened by the loss of Anthony Bourdain,” fellow chef and TV host Gordan Ramsay wrote on Twitter. “He brought the world into our homes and inspired so many people to explore cultures and cities through their food. Dceu Fan Art Imagines Dane DeHaan As Jason Todd

Of all the hanging plot threads that fans want the Dceu to explore, one of the most interesting is the death of Jason Todd, as hinted at in both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.

The inclusion of a Robin outfit defiled with Joker graffiti on display in the Batcave told us that, as per the comics, Batman’s nemesis had murdered the second Boy Wonder in the continuity of the movie universe. So, let’s imagine for a second that this tragic event was depicted in some future Dceu film. If that indeed happens, who should play the part?

Well, one Redditer, going by the suitably Joker-savvy username @JNapierrr, has shared a piece of fan art that imagines Dane DeHaan in the role of Jason Todd, and you can check it out down below:

The Batman Fan Art Imagines Dane DeHaan As Dceu’s Jason Todd

Dceu movie fan art imagines actor Dane DeHaan as Jason Todd in The Batman. When fans of a franchise are excited about seeing their favorite characters come to life on the big screen, they often know exactly how they want it to be done – including casting. It’s become common practice lately for fans to make posters which feature their top choice actor for a certain role. There’s certainly been a lot of that lately with the movies based on DC Comics, with fans imagining how Guy Pearce would look as Reverse Flash or Janelle Monáe as Batgirl.

Sleeping Beauty! Cara Delevingne Shares Silly Video of Herself Snoring Through Hair and Makeup
Cara Delevingne doesn’t let anything get in the way of her beauty rest!

The 25-year-old model and actress shared a video on Saturday which proved that she can fall asleep anywhere — even while getting her hair and makeup done.

“Here is something natural for you to chew on…or maybe not so natural,” she wrote on social media alongside the silly video. “Commence the snoring.”

While Delevingne didn’t provide any additional information on when this snoring session occurred, Dane DeHaan, her costar from the 2017 film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, commented on the video writing,

6. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

If this was just about wasted potential, Valerian would easily be on the top of this list. There are five worse movies this year but none of them have a fraction of the visual artistry displayed here by Luc Besson. Valerian has some of the best design I’ve seen in a movie all year and two of the most inventive chase sequences maybe ever. It also features a terrible script that meanders forever over trivial nothing and merrily skips past dense plot without a moment for inspection. I loved watching the action but I never really understood why any of it was going on. Toss on top some of the worst chemistry I’ve ever seen between an on-screen couple (and honestly maybe Dane DeHaan isn’t ready to be a leading man) and this is an unpleasant movie to watch at any volume above mute.

‘Valerian’ Director Luc Besson on Why You Should Watch His Movie Twice [Interview]
The making of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was a long journey for writer and director Luc Besson, who started reading the work of comic book writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières when he was 10 years old. He brought the comic and its two galaxy-saving agents, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne), to […]

Rihanna Reveals Surprise Perks of Wearing Latex for 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' (Exclusive)
Reaction to Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets may have been mixed, but one thing was unanimous: Rihanna playing a shape-shifting alien named Bubbles was a highlight. In this behind-the-scenes featurette, debuting on Et, RiRi reveals which of her many looks -- disco queen, French maid, Cleopatra and more -- was the hottest. Not like sexy, but actually hot.

"I loved the nurse outfit. That one was a tricky little number, because it was all latex," Rihanna says. "Literally, I had to take breaks to, like, towel down the sweat out of my costume. It was crazy. But I did lose some weight for the next scene, which was tribal and my stomach was all out!"

Valerian was a passion project for visionary director Luc Besson, one he spent many, many years attempting to bring to the screen, and he told Et that he cast Rihanna once she proved to him that she is

Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.

Beach Rats (Eliza Hittman)

Burgeoning sexuality is the basis for nearly all coming-of-age films, but with her specific eye, Eliza Hittman makes it feel like we’re watching this genre unfold for the first time. With only two features to her name, she’s captured the experience with a sensuality and intimacy nearly unprecedented in American independent filmmaking. Following 2013’s It Felt Like Love, the writer-director follows it with
