Aliza Pearl is an actress and writer of African American and Puerto Rican descent originally from Newark, NJ. Trained in theatre, on-camera acting, improv, and music, Aliza does improv and sketch throughout LA. As a writer, her focus is on socially aware grounded comedy and dramedy, sci-fi, and fantasy. After studying and performing drama and musical theatre at Princeton University, Aliza toured nationally in musical theatre, and was a cast member of the world premiere of Zora Neale Hurston's blues musical "Polk County" which debuted on the east coast at McCarter Theater and on the west coast at the Berkeley Repertory Theater.

In television and film, Aliza has appeared on "Days of Our Lives", season 2 of Showtime's "House of Lies", is a recurring guest on musical improv series "Show Offs" on BYUtv, and has shot many indie films, including "Beached" by Nic Collins & Sean Godsey (SXSW 2020), "The End" by Matthew Smith (Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema, nominated for Best Actress, Best Director, Best Score, Best Screenplay, & Best Short Film), Wong Fu Productions' feature "Everything Before Us" directed by Wesley Chan and Philip Wang, and "Something is Killing Tate" by Leon Lozano starring Jocko Sims, which garnered multiple festival awards. Most recently she acted in the feature films "Newly Single", Lone Suspect's indie feature film "Faith Based", "Darkness Falls", as well as acted in, improvised, and associate produced Ripley Improv's completely improvised anthology series "As We Go Along."

Aliza has appeared and starred in many online series, Twitch RPG gaming shows, and promotional projects. Most recently, she was a host and RPG performer in a "Carnival Row" docuseries, "Into Carnival Row" and its accompanying RPG tabletop game, "The Heist on the Row." She spent two years writing for Nerdist's daily pop culture news show "Nerdist News" and video sketch series' "Nerdist Presents" and "Team Nerdist." She has been a regular cast member on long-running RPG shows "Shield of Tomorrow" and "Callisto 6" on Geek and Sundry, and "Rat Queens" on Hyper RPG. Online, Aliza has also appeared in various scripted webseries including: Comediva's hit series "BAMF Girls Club" as Michonne (featured on Virgin America In-Flight Entertainment), Black and Sexy TV's "Yellow" and "Hello Cupid," "The Silverlake Badminton and Adventurers Club" and "The Further Adventures of Cupid and Eros" which was featured on Hulu.

In 2011, Aliza co-wrote an award-winning dramatic coming-of-age TV pilot called "Whitehall" which won Best Teleplay at the BET Urbanworld Film Festival. Aliza is a frequent panelist at comic conventions, and continues to perform improv with her troupes "The Improvised Generation", which improvises hour-long plays in the style of Star Trek: The Next Generation; Ripley Improv, an all-female improv and film collective using narrative improv to explore various genres on stage and screen; and Essence Improv, an all black female, long form improv group. Aliza speaks Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and some Klingon, studied Tae Kwon Do, and if she's not too busy being an international spy, would like to either battle robots or command a starship some day.

I'm new to sharing my comedic writing, so I've learned a lot with every script and video we've done so far. When you go from acting in other people's projects to producing your own from start to finish, you learn to let go of a lot of excess and tell the story in the most honest way.
