Erica Ortiz is an award winning Mexican American Writer and Director. Her films dive into vulnerable stories with a compassionate yet critical eye.
In 2015 she graduated with honors from California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/ Video Production. In 2016 her short film Ms. Match received the Best Film and Best Director awards at Studio 4 showcase.
Her work led her to fulfilling and rewarding non-profit work with communities of need in Los Angeles and South Africa.
In 2019 she directed The Tampon, a poignant film about consent which was an Official Selection at Oscar qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival and a winner for many awards including the Social Justice Award at Studio City International Film Festival.
In 2020 she was awarded Best Experimental Film award for MIJO, a live action and animation film at Official Latino Film Festival. Her feature film script Above All Else was a finalist at Official Latino Film Festival.
Erica is passionate and determined to write and direct stories that will highlight issues that women and Latinx communities face. She strives to be a prominent voice in the film industry with her bold and unflinching approach.
