Joel Pelligrini
- Composer
Joël Pellegrini is a French musician and composer who was born in
Alençon in Normandy in 1964, and grew up in the region of the granite
quarries in Condé sur Sarthe, France. When he was age 10, he began his
musical training at the music school in Alençon and, at the age of 18,
continued his studies in Paris at the Conservatory of the 11th
arrondissement, Ecole Dante Agostini, and Institut des Arts Rythmique.
His career as a musician is atypical: he is both a stage performer, a
percussionist, and a self-trained pianist and composer. A member of
SACEM, he has artistic rights on more than 100 compositions and has
produced several albums: "Si important", "And so", "Cogito Ergo Sum".
In 1994 he created the first school for percussion for children from the ages of four to ten and has written educational manuals for the prestigious French publishing house, Les Editions Henri Lemoine.
He has composed for many ballets, dance and theatrical performances, and in 2003 was honored by Jacques Chirac, among other young French artists, for his collaboration with the French choreographer Nathalie Vallée.
Joël Pellegrini has composed the musical scores for two independent films directed by Ahmed Boulane: "The Satanic Angels" (2008), for which he won the prize for Best Music at the 9th Moroccan National Film Festival, and "Le Retour du Fils" (2012).
Joël Pellegrini currently lives in Casablanca, Morocco. He teaches percussion at the Studio des Arts Vivants and regularly performs with his rock band, "B4TB", all over Morocco. He is working on an opera, "La Scomparsa".
