Popeye the Slayer Man captured the attention of horror fans around the world after its trailer went viral late last year, and now the film is set to "sail into theaters and VOD" via Vantage Media on March 21st. We caught up with Sarah Nicklin, who told us all about her experience making Popeye the Slayer Man, her love of starring in horror movies, and what she has coming up next:

How did you get involved in Popeye the Slayer Man and why was this a project you wanted to be a part of?

Sarah Nicklin: This was a lucky case where it was offered to me. I’ve been friends with the producers and director for 15 years now in some cases and we always wanted to work together, but it just hadn’t worked out yet.

Fresh new label Dreamscape Productions has wrapped principal photography on their creature feature Round the Decay, and they’ve provided Bloody Disgusting with some first look stills of the film’s cast and a peek at the flick’s monster, the Wrexsoul.

Writer and director Adam Newman teases the original practical creation at the center of the film (played by Rachel Pizzolato), “The Wrexsoul is inspired by many creatures of film’s past, but the sum equals something fresh and unique. We can’t spoil too much but we have an extensive lore that you’re going to have to check out once Round the Decay is released.”

Melody Kay (The NeverEnding Story III) will star alongside Victoria Mirrer (Everwinter Night), Phil Duran (“Breaking Bad”), Damian Maffei, Sarah Nicklin, and Rodger Clarke (Red Dead Redemption II).

Round the Decay follows “Kenzie (Victoria Mirrer) as she gets entangled in a sinister plot in the sleepy town of Newport Valley to get closure on her broken engagement.”

“When prominent locals take in a lost hiker, Kenzie, newcomer Roz and mysterious outsider Munroe find themselves caught between the leaders of the town’s factions and entangled in an ancient sinister plot dating back to its founder that threatens the survival of the town and their lives.”

Adam Newman wrote the script and is also directing the horror film.

In the dead of winter, the time of their lives has just run out in Everwinter Night. The indie horror-comedy is described as Midsommar meets Chasing Amy by way of The Shining.

The unconventional production was the result of a different movie being cancelled at the last minute due to unforeseen complications.

While we keep waiting to hear distribution news for the Blind (watch it Here, read my review at This Link) sequel Pretty Boy, the film’s creative team is continuing to create. Last year, we heard that filming had wrapped on a giallo thriller called That’s a Wrap, the first film from Neon Noir, a production company formed by Blind and Pretty Boy director Marcel Walz, screenwriter Joe Knetter, and star Sarah French. Now production has also wrapped on the second Neon Noir project, a horror film called Garden of Eden!

Neon Noir, the production company formed by Marcel Walz, Sarah French and Joe Knetter, has wrapped principal photography on their second movie, titled Garden of Eden.

Bloody Disgusting has been told that the film, shot in the LA area, “tackles heavy subject matter that will no doubt lead to some controversy during its planned film festival run.”

New ‘Neighbours’ As Reprieved Series Prepares Return

The return of long-running Australian soap “Neighbours” will see a new family, the Varga-Murphys, featuring mums, Remi (Naomi Rukavina) and Cara (Sara West) and teenage sons, JJ (Riley Bryant) and Dex (Marley Williams), moving to the iconic Ramsay Street.

West said: “Cara has a bold, impassioned love for her family and I love that her intentions have, so far, always been good. I hope having the Varga-Murphys on telly will help better reflect the beautiful Lgbtqia+ community that I’m proud to be a part of and I can’t wait to share the family with you.”

Billed by Knetter as “super dark and disturbing,” the film will follow the wealthy Eden family, who are devout Christians that have been very successful in business and are rich beyond their needs. From director Devanny Pinn, the true crime thriller Black Mass has set its market screening on May 21, 2023 at 6:15pm in the Palais des Festival (Palais J) as part of the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, Bloody Disgusting has learned.

We’ve also been provided with the film’s poster art, which you’ll find below.

In attendance at the festival will be director Pinn (an award-winning actress and producer who has been active in horror for over a decade) and Black Mass stars Andrew Sykes, Sarah Nicklin (The Retaliators) and Michelle Romano (Spoken Word), the latter who also produced the film.

ITV Studios label MultiStory Media has bolstered its entertainment team. Simone Haywood has been promoted to Creative Director for MultiStory London, while Jon Cahn has joined as Executive Producer and Zinia Scroggs has been appointed Series Editor. Haywood was previously Head of Factual Entertainment, steering shows such as Scared of the Dark for Channel 4, BBC Three’s Project Icon, Big Flower Fight for Netflix and Come Dine With Me for Channel 4. Scorpio Film Releasing is New England’s most prolific feature film production company, and their latest, The Sins of Dracula, takes on an icon and fuses him with a parody of Christian scare films. What's not to love? Here are its trailer, poster, and premiere info.
