Hans Casparius (1900-1986) was a noted Weimar era German photographer of Jewish ancestry who, after collaborating with director G W Pabst as a stills cameraman on the set of several films, and as a movie actor, emigrated with the rise of the Nazis to Palestine, where he documented the growing Zionist project in a series of photographs published in a Bilderbuch to encourage other Jews to see what was going on in what would later become Israel.
