Tna Star Bobby Lashley Signs “Long Term Contract Extension” With Bellator Mma

Bellator Mma

Forget about any jump to the Ufc for Bobby Lashley. Bellator Mma has announced that it has signed the two-time Tna Champion to a “long term” contract extension that, at age thirty-eight, will no doubt take the fighter to the end of his career.

Lashley, the only pro wrestler to simultaneously pursue a mixed martial arts career with a high level of success, was most recently linked to a fight with James Thompson, but was forced to withdraw from the February bout due to injury. He could now be ready to fight as soon as April.

One of the biggest names on the horizon for Lashley would be former Ufc contender and current Bellator heavyweight Cheick Kongo. Shortly after news of the Lashley extension, Kongo retweeted a pair of articles about a potential match-up between the two that had been rumoured to take place next year. Could that

Could Bellator Mma Be Interested In Goldberg?

He’s pushing fifty, flopped in his WWE run, but he’s still a huge name in the wrestling world, and now he’s training with “King” Mo Lawal at American Top Team: Could Bill Goldberg, at age 48, have an Mma fight in his future?

Before you completely dismiss the idea, consider that at the same age, Herschel Walker, NFL legend, fought in Strikeforce, then the second largest Mma promotion in the world, and run by one Scott Coker. The same Scott Coker who now runs Bellator Mma, owned by Viacom. The same promotion where King Mo remains a key star, with an upcoming fight against Cheick Kongo.

And Mo thinks Bellator needs to reach out to Goldberg.

Speaking to Submission Radio, Mo had the following to say about his current training partner:

Well first of all man, he’s a fast learner. He has some crazy power,

Dana White Confirms Bellator Free To Negotiate With Brock Lesnar

Jae C. Hong/AP

The Ufc is now being aired on The Fight Network, and as part of the build-up to Ufc 183: Silva vs. Diaz, Ufc president Dana White appeared on the channel, where he answered a key question about the future of Brock Lesnar: what was the status of the former heavyweight champion with the company, as far as any existing contract is concerned?

The answer was good news for Bellator. Dana White stated that Lesnar had completed his original Ufc contract, and did not owe the promotion any fights. Which means that, should he return to fighting, he’s free to sign with any promotion, not just the Ufc.

There had been some question about the legality of rumoured talks between Lesnar and Bellator Mma, but this statement puts those questions to rest. Bellator CEO Scott Coker had previously confirmed that the promotion had reached out

Bobby Lashley To Rematch James Thompson As Part Of Bellator’s “British Invasion”

Bellator 131 took place Saturday night in California, and while the action was going down, Bellator CEO Scott Coker made a huge announcement: 2015 will see an event the company is calling the “British Invasion” which will include the return to the Bellator cage of pro wrestling standout and former WWE star Bobby Lashley.

Lashley has gone 2-0 since arriving in Bellator, and title fight talk has come hot and heavy as a result. Cheick Kongo was rumored as a potential opponent, and Lashley reacted favorably to the fight, but Bellator match-makers have gone another direction, and lined up Lashley for the first rematch of his career, against England’s James Thompson.

If there has been a knock on Lashley, who started late in the Mma game, it has been his level of competition: each time he has tried to make a step up, he has been knocked back. He met Thompson.

Tna Star Bobby Lashley Wins Second Bellator Mma Bout, Heavyweight Title Shot Soon?

Bobby Lashley, the “other” former WWE star to make the jump to Mixed Martial Arts, continued his recent Mma winning streak Friday, moving to 2-0 in Bellator Mma and 12-2 overall in his professional Mma career with a win at Bellator 130 over the previously undefeated English heavyweight Karl Etherington. For Lashley, it marks his fifth straight win since a May 2012 loss to heavyweight vet James Thompson under the Sfl (Super Fight League) banner.

Etherington entered the bout with a decidedly odd stratedgy, claiming he would come right at the hulking Lashley and outmuscle him. True to his word, the English fighter attempted to do just that, only to find himself tied up against the Bellator cage by the American Top Team fighter. After Etherington threw a clear low blow (a knee to the groin), Lashley had the option to take up to five minutes of recovery time, but

Bobby Lashley’s Next Mma Fight Set Against English Fighter?

Don’t look now, but history may just be about to repeat itself: for the second time in recent Bellator Mma history, their heavyweight champion might retire while holding the title.

The first time this happened, it was undefeated Bellator heavyweight champion Cole Konrad, a former training partner of Ufc heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and a big part of Lesnar’s camp, Death Clutch, along with Pat Barry. After Lesnar retired at the end of 2011, Konrad and Barry kept Death Clutch going for a bit, but Konrad retired in 2012, saying he knew the writing was on the wall for him in the fight game: despite being a champ, he wasn’t fighting often enough, had a new family to consider, and didn’t have the personality to be a top star. Speaking to Mma Fighting after his retirement, Konrad stated “There’s great money there for top guys,

5 Ufc Heavyweight Fights We’re Looking Forward To

Jae C. Hong/AP/Press Association Images

Last weekend, the Mma world was shocked once again as Ben Rothwell knocked one-time title hopefull Alistair Overeem out, the third time it has happened in the Ufc. The knockout put an exclamation point on the failure that has been The Reem’s run in the Ufc thus far, as he has also been knocked out by Travis Browne and Antonio Silva. As well that night, Derrick Lewis had his hype train derailed at the hands of a Meathead (Matt Mitrione), in another brutal Tko. Bellator also featured heavyweight action last week, with Cheick Kongo submitting Lavar Johnson, and Bobby Lashley making a successful debut with a submission victory over Josh Burns.

At Ufc Fight Night 51 this weekend, Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski meets Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in a rematch of their 2010 fight under the Strikeforce banner. It’s the first bout of several

5 Lessons Learned From Bellator 123

Bellator’s season opener went down tonight, and Bellator 123 offered up the best Bellator reasonably had to offer for the start of their year.

There were some key bouts on the card, not the least of which was Put Curran putting his featherweight title on the line against Patricio Pitbull. On top of that there was the Bellator debut of former Strikeforce fighter, and current Tna champion Bobby Lashley – best known from his days in the WWE, where he once helped shave Vince McMahon bald. How Lashley fares in his first few Bellator fights will likely dictate the course his career goes – a solid run in Mma, or back to the world of professional wrestling.

Outside of that fight, there was a heavyweight showdown between Cheick Kongo and fellow former Ufc fighter Lavar “Big” Johnson, and the return of Muhammed Lawal, otherwise known as King Mo, taking on Dustin Jacoby.

4 Main Card Predictions For Bellator 123

It’s a head to head battle between the world’s two premiere Mma promotions this Friday as Bellator 123 goes head-to-head with Ufc Fight Night 50.

While that might look like a squash match at first glance, it’s important to get perspective. One, Ufc Fight Night 50 is a Fight Pass event in North America, meaning the TV audience that would tune in in droves to see the likes of Alistair Overeem, Matt Mitrione, Joe Lauzon, Gregard Mousasi, and Ronaldo Souza just won’t be there. It’s a hardcore fans only event. Second, Bellator’s viewers are Spike TV loyalists, and they always tend to tune in. Third, Bellator has stacked this card with some of their best: Featherweight champion Pat Curran, Cheick Kongo, Lavar Johnson, King Mo, and making his Bellator debut, Tna wrestling Bobby Lashley.

That’s a pretty decent cast of characters, and Lashley should bring

Tna Champion Bobby Lashley Signs With Bellator – Debut Set

Current Tna World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley is returning to the cage!

Bobby Lashley, one-time WWE superstar and current Tna World Heavyweight Champion (where he wrestles under just his last name, Lashley), has signed on with Bellator Mma, now headed by Lashley’s old Strikeforce boss Scott Coker, and will make his promotional debut this September 5th Connecticut.

Once linked to the Wsof, Lashley never appeared for that organization, and fought most recently in independent promotions Xfn (winning their heavyweight title) and Gwc. Lashley is also a Shark Fights champion. Since joining Tna Wrestling on Spike, speculation has been rampant that Lashley would also join Bellator and work under both promotions, just as fellow fighters King Mo and Rampage Jackson have done (though neither have been used much at all by Tna).

Though his career in Mma has failed to reach the level of success that Brock Lesnar

15 Bellator Fighters Who Would Succeed In The Ufc

It’s the world’s #2 Mma promotion, but how would the stars of Bellator fare in the Ufc? Who could make the jump?

Bellator snagged disgruntled Ufc stars Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz late last year, and so far, the pick ups have been paying off – Jackson won the promotion’s most recent light heavyweight tournament, headlining Bellator’s first PPV in the process, and Ortiz finished middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko on the same card. They also brought back Sokoudjou, who recently picked up his first win in Bellator, and signed free agent Cheick Kongo, who won the Bellator Season 9 heavyweight tournament final before losing to champ Vitaly Minakov.

In other words, Bellator has been cashing in off ex-ufc fighters, but what about their home-grown talent? Which Bellator fighters could really taste success in the Ufc?

Lets take a look.

Sokoudjou & Thompson Win Bellator Mma Debuts

Sokoudjou and James Thompson both earned stoppage victories in their respective debuts at Bellator 121 on Friday night.

Ex-Pride/Ufc fighter Sokoudjou, who holds victories over Little Nog and Ricardo Arona from his Pride days, and Pride heavyweight vet James “The Colossus” Thompson both won their debut Bellator matches at last night’s Bellator 121, the company’s first event since it’s inaugural PPV in May.

The two vets were touted as big signings by Bellator Mma, despite Sokoudjou having lost two straight fights heading into the event.

Matched up with Terry “The Punisher” Davinney, Sokoudjou controlled for most of the opening stanza but was taken down briefly. Davinney was unable to make much of the takedown, however, which led to Sokoudjou reversing and landing some solid shots. Davinney leaned forward and gave up his neck before getting free, only to give it up again later in the sequence to avoid ground and pound,

Blu-ray Review: Locked Down – Amazing HD Transfer But Still Only For Fight Fans

Vinnie Jones has enjoyed varying degrees of success since trading a career in professional football for acting. After an auspicious debut in the early breakout hits from Guy Richie to high profile roles in Hollywood action fests such as Gone In 60 Seconds and X-Men: The Last Stand, Jones seems to currently be dwelling in straight to DVD territory which is where we find him in Locked Down, a prison based action film released on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

A shamed cop must fight to defend his integrity after being incarcerated for a crime he didn’t commit, and forced to compete as an underground cage fighter. Danny (Tony Schiena) was a good cop, but now he’s serving hard time. His reputation tarnished after an investigation went awry, Danny does his best not to draw attention to himself while he’s on the inside.

Unfortunately for Danny, the

Diego Sanchez's Face Becomes A Concern For Paramore's Hayley Williams

With playoff implications hanging in the balance in the NFL, hot stove moves happening all over baseball and the grand spectacle of the Army/Navy football game, it was an excellent weekend for sports. But anybody who caught Ufc 107 on pay-per-view on Saturday night (December 12) was treated to the best set of performances of the weekend. The show was excellent from top to bottom (save for the typically dull Jon Fitch fight), and featured impressive performances from Frank Mir (who tapped out fellow heavyweight Cheick Kongo in just over a minute), Kenny Florian (who made Clay Guida bleed like a stuck pig before choking him out) and B.J. Penn, who put up a good argument for himself as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He took a skilled wrestler and striker in Diego Sanchez and made him completely impotent. Penn beat on him solidly for four rounds, and the
