Mailara Santana is a Production Designer born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 2001 she completed an M.F.A. at Towson University, Baltimore, MD. Santana also has an M.A. in Retail Design from ESDesign Barcelona. Shortly after finishing her degree, Santana worked as Art Director on many Independent and Hollywood movies, TV series like A&E's "Kings of South Beach", "Friends with Kids", "Welcome to the Jungle", episodes of the series "Royal Pains" and "The Big C", the series "Mad Dogs", and as Assistant Art Director in the series "Crossed Bones" and the movie "Fast and Furious 5". Santana has more recently art directed for Warner Brother's "Blue Beetle", Marvel's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", and the ABC series "Will Trent."
Mailara Santana's leap into Production Design started with Sony Picture's series "Start Up" and "The Oath", fast forwarding to designing the movie "American Traitor", a period drama starring Al Pacino; the comedy "Chick FIght" with Malin Akerman and Bella Thorne, and exciting projects like "Blue Miracle" with Denis Quaid, and "Arthur the King" starring and produced by Mark Wahlberg, both filmed in the Dominican Republic. Most recently, she designed Lionsgate's movie "Plane" with Gerard Butler and Mike Colter, the upcoming Paramount Picture's movie "Fight or Flight" with Josh Hartnett, filmed in Budapest, Hungary; and the Netflix series, "Neon." Her latest design project was "Undercard", a heartfelt movie by director Tamika Miller, starring Wanda Sykes.
Santana seeks to design meaningful, creative movies and series that will not only further her career but help impact viewers.
