Solo: A Star Wars Story Post-Production Has Wrapped

Solo: A Star Wars Story Post-Production Has Wrapped
It's been a long road for Solo: A Star Wars Story, but the movie is now officially complete, according to director Ron Howard. The director stepped in to take over for Chris Miller and Phil Lord who were fired from the project last summer. The majority of the movie had already been shot and Howard was reportedly coming on to take care of reshoots. However, Ron Howard ended up reshooting most of the entire movie, and now has sole directing credit for Solo while Lord and Miller will receive executive producer credits.

Throughout the production for Solo, Ron Howard was giving Star Wars fans a peak behind-the-scenes, showing off cryptic photos without much explanation, leading many to speculate about what exactly was going on. As the production marched on, the director would post pictures of the cast as they wrapped up work on the Star Wars spin-off movie, and now,

New Solo: A Star Wars Story TV Spot Highlights Jon Favreau’s Character

Jon Favreau likes his bread buttered on both sides. He manages to juggle being a sought after character actor, most famously playing Tony Stark’s bodyguard buddy Happy Hogan, and being a top-flight director. He introduced us to the McU in 2008’s Iron Man and recently had a critical and financial smash hit with the live-action The Jungle Book, which he’s soon to follow up with an all-star remake of The Lion King.

And we haven’t even mentioned that he’s also going to be helming the first ever Star Wars live-action TV series for Lucasfilm and Disney. Yes, there’s a lot on the man’s plate, but it seems he has room to squeeze in one more project as well, taking a bit of a test drive in that galaxy far, far away ahead of his television project with a cameo role in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Lawrence Kasdan says Solo: A Star Wars Story “is a love story between Han and Chewie”

With a little over a month to go until the film’s release, Solo: A Star Wars Story screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan has been chatting to Empire about the Anthology movie, describing it as a love story of sorts between Han Solo and his companion Chewbacca.

“It’s a love story,” said Kasdan. “Obviously, they don’t automatically trust each other and become friends. But that’s all the meat of a good story. To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie. Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy … Wookiees have so many positive qualities. But what they don’t do is make it easy for you to get in.”

Kasdan has also been discussing what attracted him to the Han Solo origin story, as

‘Atlanta’ Writer on Paper Boi’s Heartbreaking Loss, ‘Teddy Perkins,’ and Life After ‘Deadpool’

‘Atlanta’ Writer on Paper Boi’s Heartbreaking Loss, ‘Teddy Perkins,’ and Life After ‘Deadpool’
[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Atlanta” Season 2, Episode 8, “Woods.”]

“Teddy Perkins” might have been the most horrific “Atlanta” episode to date, but Thursday’s “Woods” still gave viewers plenty of reason to flinch and be frightened. After ditching his not-girlfriend at the nail parlor, Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) is walking home when three teenagers recognize him as Paper Boi, but decide to mug him anyway because he’s alone. The resulting struggle is messy, brutal, and difficult to watch. When one assailant pulls a gun, Alfred flees into the nearby woods.

As a main character, Alfred would normally be free from real consequences on a so-called comedy, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it here. With the murder-suicide and Darius’ (Lakeith Stanfield) close call in “Teddy Perkins,” it seemed as if maybe this would be the episode where one of our heroes dies. Alfred certainly doesn’t get away from the encounter unscathed.

New Solo: A Star Wars Story Poster and Photo Are All About Lando's Coolness

It seems like there's one thing that everyone can agree on regarding Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story, and that's that Donald Glover looks amazing in the role of Lando Calrissian! Everything that we've seen of him is great and he's even got attitude down.

Today we've got a new poster and photo from the film that once again oozes the coolness factor of the character. When talking about playing the character and his style with EW, Glover said:

"Lando’s always the best-dressed person on that set. And I don’t say that lightly. There’s a lot of cool costumes and a lot of cool clothing. He takes pride in the clothing. It makes things easier. When people see you and you’re debonair, they tend to want to give you stuff easier."

Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich went on to tease his relationship with Lando,

Ron Howard Shares First Solo Reactions: What Can We Expect?
If you're one of the many Star Wars fans feeling a bit concerned that the upcoming Han Solo movie may not be all that great, you may have reason to ease your mind just a teeny tiny tad. Even though he's the guy that (mostly) directed Solo and his words need to be put through a filter of positivity, Ron Howard has shared the first encouraging reactions online. This sci-fi-fi adventure has had some small screenings and, based on what Howard has to say, it sounds like they went quite well.

Ron Howard has been very active on social media ever since taking over the gig directing Solo: A Star Wars Story. Recently, a fan who posted a photo of himself with a standee for the movie at a theater engaged the director to help him out a bit. "My wife reluctantly took this photo, tell her she must go see your movie with me!

Lando Looks Ridiculously Cool In New Solo: A Star Wars Story Photos

Star Wars, meet Childish Landino.

We are, of course, referring to the one and only Donald Glover, who’s about to slip into the cape of Billy Dee Williams, the original Lando Calrissian who smooth-talked his way into our hearts in The Empire Strikes Back.

Fast forward to 2018, and Lucasfilm is now plotting a whole new movie, aptly titled Solo: A Star Wars Story, which traces Han’s galactic journey from dreamy idealist to wise-cracking smuggler. It’s one that will purportedly unfold across a period of six years and dive deep into the galaxy’s shady underworld, as Ron Howard and his team document the defining moments of Han Solo’s life – including his first fateful encounter with Lando Calrissian.

And with the film now only about a month away, EW’s lifted the lid on two brand new photos, one which features the aforementioned Lando looking impossibly cool

Lawrence Kasdan on what attracted him to Solo: A Star Wars Story

Lawrence Kasdan, the screenwriter behind Solo: A Star Wars Story, has spoken about what it was that attracted him to the movie.

Kasdan, for those who don’t know, is the legendary screenwriter behind multiple Star Wars movies, including The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens.

Kasdan’s latest foray into Star Wars movies is the Ron Howard directed Solo: A Star Wars Story, penning the script with his son Jonathan Kasdan, and he has recently discussed who Han is in the film and why he was excited by the job to Empire Magazine (via Cbm):

“I was attracted to the idea of how this guy became the cynical on the outside, tender-hearted on the inside person we see in A New Hope. What creates that outer shell of cynicism and what creates that core?”

By all accounts, the Han we first meet in

‘Atlanta': ‘Nothing Can Ever Be The Same Again’ for Alfred After ‘Woods,’ Brian Tyree Henry Says

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Woods,” Episode 8 of “Atlanta: Robbin’ Season.”

Things are about to change for Alfred Miles, aka Paper Boi, as he’s been struggling to keep it “real” rather than give in to the rapstar persona that has made him famous.

In Thursday night’s episode, titled “Woods,” Alfred spends the first half of the episode arguing with his Instagram famous not-girlfriend, who tries to convince him to post more often on social media and develop his brand. “I’m just trying to stay real,” Alfred tells her.

“You’re on the radio and you’re making money,” she says. “You’ve been not real.”

It clearly rubs Alfred the wrong way. “He’s been fighting so hard to be real,” actor Brian Tyree Henry told TheWrap ahead of the episode’s airing, adding that Alfred doesn’t want to give in to “this rapper persona.” He’s been trying to convey a sense of “I’m a real guy, just like you.”

But later in the episode, he ends up getting mugged at gunpoint and chased into the woods precisely because he’s not real-guy Alfred, but Paper Boi.

“After this episode, he’s going to realize that he’s not [a regular guy] anymore. Nothing can ever be the same again for him,” Henry said. “It forces him to confront a lot of things.”

Henry said that getting mugged and his time wandering around the woods forces Alfred to realize that he “doesn’t know everything about who he is.”

And neither do viewers. “We know everything about Earn’s background, kinda. We know pretty much about Vanessa’s, and we know — well — we know Darius,” Henry said. “But I don’t think that people really know that this is Alfred’s territory, this is his home. I don’t think Alfred has ever left Georgia, ever in his life.”

At the end of the episode, after Alfred has spent hours hiding in the woods, and walking around in circles, he seems to give in to what earlier in the episode he referred to as “that fake s—.” He offers to take a selfie with a fan who recognizes him in a convenience store, and he seems to realize that he can no longer be anonymous in his hometown. As Henry said, he’s learning “how to turn the game on.”

Atlanta” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on FX.

Beautiful New Solo Poster Teases Old Friends And New Faces

The rogues and outliers of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars universe come together for this beautiful, sun-kissed Solo poster. And we’re beginning to wish that Kathleen Kennedy and Co. had green-lit Lando: A Star Wars Story instead, where Donald Glover could potentially reprise his role as the ice-cool smuggler.

But that’s a conversation for another day – there’s a new Star Wars movie looming over the horizon, and just like Rogue One before it, it’s poised to take us back in time to explore the formative years that bent and molded Han Solo into shape. We are, of course, referring to Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Ron Howard-directed Anthology pic that’s just now beginning to emerge from a storied production, one in which Lucasfilm parted ways with erstwhile directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller due to creative differences.

It’s a creative changeover that occurred last summer,

‘Deadpool 2’ Final Trailer Trolls DC Universe and Introduces Your New Favorite Hero, Peter (Video)
Hey guys, “Deadpool 2” has yet another trailer. And guess what? This one is good too.

Billed as the final trailer for the upcoming 20th Century Fox sequel, this few minutes of footage trolls the rival DC Universe and mocks Josh Brolin’s double-duty as Thanos in the “Avengers” films and Cable in the “Deadpool” ones.

Yeah, that makes for two bad guys in two Marvel movies.

The Thursday morning release also introduces viewers to their new favorite (wildly unqualified) superhero, Peter. He’s pictured above, and he’s the best.

In case you haven’t read it, here is the official logline for the Ryan Reynolds movie — it’s wonderful:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

R2-D2 May Have A Cameo In Solo: A Star Wars Story

Without a doubt, one of the biggest draws of Solo: A Star Wars Story is seeing the beloved duo at the center of the film.

We are, of course, referring to Han and Chewbacca, otherwise known as the galaxy’s greatest double act. But considering the Ron Howard-directed spinoff takes place long before A New Hope – and before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, too – Solo is all set to deep dive into the early days of Han and Chewie’s friendship, as they begin to mosey their way through the galaxy’s criminal underworld.

That means we’ll be running into a number of other familiar characters as well, like Lando Calrissian, for one, while rumors have pointed to everyone from Boba Fett to Jabba the Hutt appearing, too. And while that all remains unconfirmed at the moment, the latest report suggests that none other than R2-D
