NBC’s Comedy Pilot ‘Donor Party’ Pushed

NBC‘s single-camera comedy pilot Donor Party has been on hold because of difficulties casting the lead. The project, written by Alex Schemmer, centers on an irresponsible man forced to grow up when he discovers he has children resulting from his days as a sperm donor. I hear NBC went heavily after Rainn Wilson and Seann William Scott, offering both actors episodic guarantees, and decided to put a pin in the pilot after both passed. NBC has now slated the project, from Lionsgate, Media Talent Group and Universal TV, for off-season production. NBC also recently postponed drama pilot Wonderland because of the complexity of production for the Alice In Wonderland-themed project.

The project, from CBS TV Studios and writer Lisa Takeuchi Cullen, centers on the son of a Kennedy-esque family who leaves the priesthood and becomes a lawyer to prevent his politician sister from being assassinated. CAA-repped Cutler serves as an executive producer on Nashville. Emmy winner Todd Holland has signed on to direct the NBC single-camera comedy pilot Donor Party, from writer Alex Schemmer and Universal TV. It is about a guy who discovers he’s got children

The one that got the nod at NBC today is an untitled half-hour written by The Office‘s Robert Padnick. Casting Bits: Elizabeth Debicki in ‘The Great Gatsby’, Katie Holmes and Chace Crawford in ‘Responsible Adults’, Alexander Skarsgard in ‘What Maisie Knew’
[1] Up to this point, Baz Luhrmann's been filling his 3D [2] adaptation of The Great Gatsby with well-known talents: Carey Mulligan [3], Tobey Maguire, and of course, Leonardo DiCaprio [4] as the titular Gatsby. So it's surprising and intriguing that the latest addition to his cast is a newcomer -- Elizabeth Debicki, who comes straight out of Australia's Victorian College of the Arts. Debicki will play golfer Jordan Baker, who in F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel is a friend of Daisy Buchanan (Mulligan) and the love interest of Nick Carraway (Maguire). In an interview, Luhrmann acknowledged the unusual nature of his selection: It was a surprising result, but Elizabeth's grasp of the material and her chemical connectivity to Tobey Maguire, in addition to her striking, athletic appearance, had us in a place where we were fully confident and ready to take the leap of giving the role of Jordan Baker to what,

Katie Holmes and Chace Crawford Hook Up for 'Responsible Adults'

If Hollywood has taught us anything, it's that romance can spring from anywhere at anytime and that you're only being close-minded if you think it's creepy.

So open up! Chace Crawford is about to get with his babysitter.

The "Gossip Girl" actor has signed on opposite Katie Holmes in the romantic comedy "Responsible Adults," which Deadline reports is currently being shopped around at the Cannes Film Festival. In the film, Crawford plays a 22-year-old who strikes up a steamy relationship with Holmes' 30-year-old med student, only to find out -- drum roll! -- she took care of him as a kid.

"Cradle robbing" never seemed like more appropriate a term.

The film was written by actor Alex Schemmer and will be directed Jon Poll, who has experience with films that dabble in both comedy and grounded relationships. Poll has been an editor on films like "Meet the Parents" and the "Austin Powers" films,
