As an interdisciplinary artist with a diverse production background, I've been creating music videos since 2006. My debut German Expressionist-inspired music video, 'Mirror Mirror' (produced in the fall of 2006), was not just a nomination for Best Indie Music Video at Yahoo's Veddy Awards in early 2007 but a testament to my unique vision. This video, which resonated with a wide audience, sparked a new wave of interest in German Expressionism in music videos. Since then, my videos have been officially selected for film and music video festivals in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Denmark, connecting with audiences worldwide and contributing to the global arts and entertainment industry.
I design, direct, film, and edit all my productions, showcasing my versatility and self-sufficiency. I also self-produced my music videos, demonstrating my resourcefulness and ability to bring a project to life from start to finish. In "An Evening At Nossy's," Halloween-inspired comedic shorts, I playfully poke fun at famous classic horror characters and monsters such as Nosferatu, The Invisible Man, and The Mummy. These shorts feature my love of classic horror-noir, 1950's B-horror films, and 1980s comedy shows like 'Three's Company.' On the more commercial side, my fantasy-based commercial spec 'Dream Big' received an 'Honorable Mention' from a city-wide commercial contest sponsored by Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego, CA, further demonstrating my self-sufficiency and ability to create compelling content.
My whimsical thumbprint for unique character designs and storytelling can be traced back to a Halloween film event at elementary school. I vividly recall sitting on the cool linoleum floor in the auditorium, my eyes fixed on the screen and the aroma of freshly popped corn wafting. It was here I had my first encounter with black-and-white classic horror films starring Boris Karloff (Frankenstein), Bela Lugosi (Dracula), and Peter Cushing (Sherlock in The Hound of the Baskervilles). This early exposure to the strange and beautiful in film has continued to inspire my work to this day, instilling in me a lifelong passion and dedication to the craft.
Since my beginnings as a self-producer, I've inspired fellow professionals and clients with my keen ability to achieve high production values on ultra-low budgets with skeleton production crews. I give full credit to my disciplined training in stage and theatrical production as a teenager and young adult. My early training as an artisan and stage technician led to stage managing and directing high school and college productions. Known for my thorough work ethic, I quickly gained professional work at several major repertory theaters and performing arts centers on the West Coast as a stage technician, scenic artist, and prop designer.
Being on both sides of the stage in musical theater productions and dramatic plays is how my early work ethic and dual craft as an actor and stage artisan/technician began. I've received multiple awards for stage performance, stagecraft, and technical production from fellow peers and local scholastic competitions. Right after graduation, several repertory theaters in San Diego hired me for my scenic talents. Shortly after that, I worked at repertory theaters in Orange County. One living closer to Los Angeles County, I began acting in feature films, commercials, and television shows. My first day on set was playing a bit part alongside Chevy Chase in "Memoirs of an Invisible Man." I also worked with Dana Carvey and Mike Myers in "Wayne's World," with Rhea Perlman and Woody Harrelson on "Cheers," and many other talented professionals over the years.
While continuing my dramatic arts education at AADA (West), I directed an original thematic work for a public art event in Los Angeles. I later went on to direct and stage-manage shows at entertainment parks in Orange County, CA. I also conducted house operations and acted as prop master for celebrity events at a prestigious performing arts center. After years of professional employment in multiple entertainment industries, it was inevitable that my abilities would lead to the multifaceted task of producing, writing, directing, filming, and editing.
I later migrated to Seattle for artistic and musical endeavors. I soon became a staff member at a reputable theater company (grandfathered into IATSE) and started freelancing for several repertory theaters on the side. On the side, I began applying hundreds (and thousands) of hours practicing the profound nuances of physical mechanics behind dynamic character movement. My diverse repertoire of performance skills as a professional character model and character movement artist became widely sought by feature animation studios, video game companies, toy manufacturers, VFX schools, fine art academies, ateliers, private studios, colleges, and educational institutions in Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego. This ability to adapt to different roles and mediums has been a key factor in my success and has allowed me to contribute to a wide range of projects and industries.
Since 1995, I've worked with numerous professional educators, conceptual artists, fine artists, animators, technicians, illustrators, and visual effects artists. With thousands of hours of direct application accumulated in focused professional studio settings, I began offering my knowledge about character movement.
My photography is featured at Saatchi Gallery, my songs have been played on radio podcasts, global radio stations, and satellite networks and featured in television shows, and my films have been featured on industry blogs, entertainment e-zines, and screened at international film festivals. The Black List currently hosts my screenwriting endeavors.
I now create and develop original intellectual properties for multi-platform entertainment.
