“mother!” doesn’t officially world premiere until next week at the Venice Film Festival, but Darren Aronofsky held a top secret screening for close friends and associates last night and the reactions pretty much confirm the Oscar-nominated director has made the most insane movie of his career. Only Anthony Bourdain and horror writer Mylo Carbia were allowed to share their thoughts on social media, and the two first reactions are bonkers.

Bourdain made headlines for tweeting negatively about Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” earlier this year, but it looks like he feels just the opposite about “mother!” The chef and television personality calls the film “dark,” “brilliant,” and a “good poke in [the] eye to convention.” But most enticing is this bit from his reaction: “[It] will upset the fuck out of people.”

The 2017 Women in Horror Film Festival kicks off this September, and the full lineup features several fixtures of the horror genre that are sure to make fans want to aim their car hoods towards Atlanta, including A Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp (and if you purchase a ticket prior to August 30th, you'll receive an autographed photo from the ultimate dream defender).

Press Release: The 2017 Women in Horror Film Festival has announced the official lineup and schedule for the 1st annual film festival to be held in Peachtree City, Ga, just minutes from the heart of The Walking Dead studios and Marvel’s home away from home, Pinewood Studios Atlanta.

“We are so excited about the films being screened this year,” says festival co-director Vanessa Ionta Wright.

“What an amazing selection from around the world; filmmakers are traveling from as far as Australia and Ireland to be with us.

Kicking off this September in Atlanta, Georgia, the inaugural Women in Horror Film Festival's full schedule has been announced, including an impressive slate of diverse films and special guests such as Jen and Sylvia Soska, Heather Langenkamp, Amanda Wyss, and Greg Nicotero.
