Boaz Freund is an award winning Director of Photography based in New York City. A versatile visual storyteller, Freund's work has imbued documentary feature films, commercials, branded content and video art with rich narrative attention, character, style and emotion. Born and raised in Israel, Freund's work routinely takes him around the world.

He has lensed commercial projects for some of the world leading brands including Lincoln Motor Co. Budweiser, United Airlines, LEGO, and Under Armour to name a few. Freund shot Budweiser's digital spot "Harry Carry's Last Call" with director Ritesh Gupta, depicting the elation Chicago Cubs fans enjoyed when a hundred+ year curse was broken and the Cubs won the 2016 world series. The spot garnered massive attention - 30 million shares on Twitter over the next weekend, making Budweiser the first brand in internet history to peak at #1 for brands on Youtube Facebook and Twitter, concurrently. The spot would also go to win first place in YouTube's Ad Of The Year competition under the category: "The One That Goes Straight To The Heart", collaborating again with Gupta the next two spots they made for Budweiser: "Derek, This Bud's for 2" Celebrating Derek Jeter's number being retired from The New York Yankees, and "Budweiser - One Last Ride" celebrating Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. turned out to become viral monsters and went on to win 4 Cleo sports awards between the two projects, in the Branded Entertainment & Content and Film Categories.

Freund's work is noted for beauty without contrivance - an appreciation for natural light and capturing the essence of his subjects. His contributions to films such as Gored (Tribeca) with Director Ido Mizrahi and Son of The Congo (SXSW) with Director Adam Hootnick allowed him to showcase his ability to turn the mundane every day life moments into haunting and visually captivating films. Freund's other work with Hootnick includes ESPN: 30 For 30, titled "What Carter Lost" a visceral depiction of Texas high school football, combining 16mm film to evoke a Dallas past, and Digital photography for the present day. Freund photographed "Generation Startup" with Directors Cynthia Wade and Cheryl Miller Houser, He would then contribute to Wade's latest feature doc 'Mudflow'(Premiered at HotDocs 2018) with Co director Sasha Freelander on location in Indonesia.

Video Art projects filmed by Freund have appeared in museums all around the world, from the Russian Momar to the MoMa museum in New York. He contributed for Chris Cunningham's video "New York is Killing Me" a 3 channel video featuring Gil Scott-Herron, just months before his death. Tom Pnini's "Paperweight" filmed in a single-shot/one-take process inside one of the largest recycling facilities in Brooklyn. The fixed frame no-movement shot emphasizes the film's relationship to theater and the "frame story"-that of the older artist winding down his career-extends into the play within a play.

Boaz lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children. He draws inspiration from his love for his family, from playing the guitar and from traveling the world, telling stories with light and meeting people from all walks of life.
