John Fay is an experienced lighting cameraman with 27 years of shooting Documentaries, Drama and commercial projects. John has shot many Arts and Cultural programs including BAI funded programs; In The Name of the Republic Tile Films TV3 with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. DramaDoc 2x1hr The series, presented by Professor Eunan O'Halpin explored a long forgotten aspect of the Irish War of Independence, the abduction, execution and secret burial of alleged spies. TK Whitaker - Seirbhíseach an Stáit Zampano productions was produced for TG4 with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. It explored the life of a man viewed by many as the greatest living Irishman. It was also nominated for an IFTA in the Best Documentary Category in 2011. Seven Women Tile films RTÉ feature length Drama/Docs presented by Fiona Shaw winner of 3 awards at the Accolade Global Film Competition. The Last Lap in the footsteps of Joey Dunlop Indie pics BBC NI. Winner of ESB Best Sports Broadcast With God on our side RTÉ 2021 On the centenary of Partition, former President Mary McAleese meets politicians and peacemakers, perpetrators and victims of violence, to ask what role religion played in creating, and resolving, conflict in Northern Ireland, and whether it still has a role to play in building peace, in a more secular, diverse, post-Brexit society. John has shot many episodes of the RTÉ Arts series The Works including Theatre Director Michael Keegan-Dolan (TX 9-12-21) Composer Philip Glass, actor Stephen Rea, artist Colin Davidson and writer Liz Nugent. John also worked on Fire in the Blood an RTÉ series looking at four people who heavily influenced the Celtic revival in Ireland. The series featured Lady Gregory literary revivalist, Douglas Hyde first President of Ireland , Michael Cusack who founded the GAA and Harry Clark Irelands greatest stained glass artist. John has experience in lighting not only for drama but for well composed pieces to camera by high profile presenters and long well lit sit down interviews. John has lit interviews including Brendan Gleeson, Michael Caine(BBC), Michael Gambon(BBC) The Edge U2, Dylan Moran(BBC) Kofi Annan (ITN) RTÉ Late Late Toy Show Opening song numbers and promos. Fiona Shaw Stephen Rea, Imelda May, Terry Wogan. John has collaborated with Karen McGrath on numerous productions including the Award winning The last Lap in the footsteps of Joey Dunlop for BBC NI. John has experience shooting with a large crew and lighting street scenes including streets in Budapest for an ad promoting the European Commission.
