Oriones is a rock band from Greece.
At the end -70's, in a suburb of Athens where 4 kids, still going in High school, formed a band called "Oriones" and were practicing endlessly - every day - playing music of great artists such as Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix and Rolling Stones while creating their own first music works. These kids were Bill Avramides (Guitar), Sakis Avramides (Drums), John Nikolaou (Bass) and Nikos Basoukos (Organ).
The band's name ORIONES inspired by the Orion Constellation.
They have released eight albums, and they featured in two compillation.
in 1979 their first song "Clockwork Little People" ( Music Company "LYRA"), released in a 45 turns disk made of... red vinyl!
Their second albun (1984) was the "Lady C", a dance Maxi Single that gets them in the field of Music and Dance Show Biz. Lady C became one of the greatest hits of the era and it remained for three months in the 1rst place of the TOP 10 charts of the DISCOMODA magazine.
In 1986 they release their third album, "RAINY DAY", another one Maxi Single, also heard at the MIDEM festival and was bought from Portugal and Spain.
In 1987 they featured in a compillation album named "Rock in the night" released by "atlantis records"
In 1989 they release a very refined LP entitled as "BABYLON"
In 1994 Oriones - with Kyriakos Kosmas in Keyboards - shook the foundations of the Greek Rock scene with their new album, "MERITOCRATICALY".
In 1998 they featured in a double CD album named "On the roads of Rock" released by "LYRA"
In 2008, the band's great come back. A new generation of Oriones, with Gina Avramidou (Singer/Vocals) and Tasos Avramides (Lead Guitarist) and Polis Adamadopoulos (keyboards) and a brand new album called "Pathway to the limits"
In 2010 they released the LP 'kyklos' by Anazitisi records
In 2012 Oriones (oriones in Greek) release a new amazing cd named 'Desmotis' with 16 songs and 3 covers, such as 'give me a reason to love you' (portishead cover) and 'Tears from the moon' (Conjure one cover)
Throughout their history, the Oriones participated in more than 30 Greek Movies, while Vasilis Avramides is the music composer of many movies created from the unforgettable director Kostas Karagiannis.
