Robert SimondsSTX Entertainment has tapped music star Pitbull to join its animated UglyDolls franchise, based on the pop culture Uglydoll characters.

Pitbull (born Armando Christian Perez) will write and perform an original song for the UglyDolls film and lend his voice to one of the the key characters. Stx is also eyeing Pitbull for spinoff UglyDoll projects now in development at STXtv, STXdigital and STXsurreal VR.

Pitbull Joins Stx’s Animated ‘UglyDolls’ Movie
Stx Entertainment has announced that the singer Pitbull is joining its UglyDolls franchise and will write and perform a song for the studio’s animated film.

Pitbull will also voice talent to one of the film’s key characters. Stx also said Tuesday that it is also eyeing involvement from the entertainer for the studio’s expansive franchise plans across its other platforms where spinoff UglyDoll projects are in development at STXtv, STXdigital and STXsurreal Vr.

“Pitbull’s amazing musical creativity and magnetic personality have captivated millions of adoring fans around the world,” Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, said. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with him, and look forward to showcasing his singular talent as we build the UglyDolls franchise.”

STXfilms will release “UglyDolls” in 2019 as a launch vehicle for the franchise. It has not yet set a specific date.

Swimsuits and evening gowns were worn, questions were answered, and when all was said and done, Miss District of Columbia, Kara McCullough, was crowned Miss USA 2017, beating out runners up Miss New Jersey and Miss Minnesota.

This marks the second year in a row that D.C.'s representative has taken home the crown. McCullough, originally from Naples, Italy, is the seventh foreign-born Miss USA.

Julianne Hough and Terrence J hosted the annual pageant in Las Vegas on Sunday, while model Ashley Graham took viewers backstage at the show. The night also included performances by Pitbull and Brett Eldredge.

In anticipation of the second season of USA Network’s “Queen of the South,” which premieres on Thursday, June 8 at 10 p.m., Variety has an exclusive first look.

The drama set in the world of Mexican drug cartels is based on the book “La Reina Del Sur,” which inspired the hugely popular telenovela on Telemundo, USA’s Spanish-language sister network. The series stars Alice Braga as Teresa Mendoza, a woman who inadvertently becomes drawn into the world of high-stakes drug trafficking when her drug-dealer boyfriend is murdered. Season 2 of the drama welcomes new showrunner, Natalie Chaidez.

Pitbull and Brett Eldredge are heading to Miss USA!

The two are set to perform at the 2017 competition, airing on Sunday from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The telecast will also feature a performance by Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson One.

Julianne Hough and Terrence J will host the competition, while Ashley Graham joins as backstage host. Halima Aden, Carson Kressley, Brook Lee, Nancy Lublin, Jeannie Mai and Janet Mock will serve as judges.

Contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will compete for the opportunity to succeed Deshauna Barber as the next Miss USA.

Miss USA will air live at 8 p.m. Et on Fox.
