Shane Black on reinventing the Predator franchise with his upcoming reboot

Earlier this month we got our first look at The Predator with the release of a trailer for the Shane Black-directed reboot [watch it here], and now the filmmaker has been chatting to Collider about reinventing the sci-fi action franchise, whilst ensuring he honours the legacy of the original movies.

“I think that there’s a basic premise that has to be honored every time you make a Predator film and that’s in some way, whatever the plot turns out to be, it has to, at some level, represent a hunt. But, beyond that, I think there’s infinite variability,” said Black. “So, we just tried to take the existing mythology and take it a step further. Ask some questions about why? Why do Predators do what they do? What would be the next step for them? How do we up the stakes so that there’s not just a single

'Handmaid's Tale' Team Breaks Down That "Abhorrent" Wedding Scene

[This story contains spoilers for season two, episode five of Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, "Seeds."]

"Husbands and wives only, I'm afraid."

With six words, Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) establishes the new status quo within the Waterford household. She and Fred (Joseph Fiennes) are not the only married couple within the residence anymore; guardian Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) has now joined the club, following one of the most upsetting scenes in Handmaid's Tale history — both to watch as a viewer and to participate in as a member of the cast and crew, according ...

Emmy Predictions 2018: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Emmy Predictions 2018: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Last Year’s Winner: Ann Dowd, “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Still Eligible: Yes.

Hot Streak: There hasn’t been a repeat winner in this category since Anna Gunn won in 2013 and 2014 for “Breaking Bad.” Before that, the last back-to-back winner was Blythe Danner for “Huff” in 2005 and 2006.

Fun Fact: For the past four years, at least one show has snagged two nominations in this category. But only one series took home the Emmy (Dowd for “The Handmaid’s Tale”).

Ann Dowd is making quite a case for another Emmy. The actress behind Aunt Lydia on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” remains an unforgettable force in Season 2, and Dowd’s deepening of the character is second to none on television.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of competitors. Thandie Newton is rolling through the second season of “Westworld,” grappling with complex issues of identity as the one woman wrecking ball,

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Team Talks June’s Breakdown and Nick’s New Relationship

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Team Talks June’s Breakdown and Nick’s New Relationship
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Seeds,” the fifth episode of the second season of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Sometimes “The Handmaid’s Tale” showrunner Bruce Miller wants his Hulu dystopian drama to inspire the audience, and sometimes he wants the audience to inspire the characters in the show.

This is why, after a season and four episodes of allowing the audience to get “a sense of optimism from June, it was time to return the favor,” he tells Variety.

In the fifth episode of the second season, entitled “Seeds,” Offred/June’s (Elisabeth Moss

The Predator Director Shane Black Talks Going Old-School on the Film to Tell The Story

Last week the first trailer for The Predator was released and while I enjoyed it, a lot of fans weren't too thrilled. I think this movie is going to be a lot better than fans think it will be. Shane Black is a solid and talented director! Sure, Iron Man 3 may not have worked out very well, but Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys were both fantastic movies! He's also written a good amount of classic films like Monster Squad and the Lethal Weapon films. I just think the odds are in his favor.

Shane Black recently sat down with Collider to talk about the film and during the interview, he explained that he wanted to go old-school with this film to tell the story and help make it feel fresh. Fans are always talking about how practical effects are the way to go with films, and

The Predator Attacks His Prey in Slamming New Photo

The Predator Attacks His Prey in Slamming New Photo
If The Predator trailer didn't do it for you, or just wasn't quiet enough alien action for your liking, a brand new image from director Shane Black's upcoming reboot has made its way online. We've been waiting a long time to see the legendary, deadly aliens make their return to the big screen and fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first trailer. Unfortunately, it left a lot of people scratching their heads, but this image is probably much more in line with what people were hoping to see.

While the trailer was mostly a strange series of things that didn't seem to make a lot of sense to those watching it without proper context, this image from The Predator gets right to the point. We see one of the famed hunters without its armor in the process of slamming who looks to be an unfortunate lackey

New Photo From The Predator Shows The Alien Hunter in all His Pissed Off Glory

Yesterday the first trailer was released for Shane Black's The Predator. If you haven't seen it yet, you've gotta check it out now. For the most part, fans didn't seem impressed. Personally, I'm on board. I liked what I saw in the trailer, but it seems the majority of people didn't. A lot of people are hilariously pointing out that "From the Director of Iron Man 3" was a big marketing fail.

Regardless, I'm excited about the movie. I'm a big fan of the franchise and I really hope that this movie turns out great. Hopefully, the studio eventually releases a trailer that will give the fans hope for the film because that first trailer obviously didn't work.

In the meantime, we have this new image from the film to share with you from Empire that features the Predator in full on attack mode!

Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’ Trailer Is Hopefully Just A Taste of Things to Come

Shane Black’s long talked about return to The Predator is almost here. 20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for the filmmakers return to the Predator series. Black starred in and was an uncredited writer on the original 1987 film staring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Since the initial film, the series has seen numerous sub-par entries that haven’t lived up to the original. Nerds have wanted a proper sequel since before I was born (1988), and we were hoping this would be that movie. Only time will tell, but check out the trailer and judge for yourself.

Here’s the first trailer:

The trailer itself is – well – is not great. I don’t think it will be indicative of the final product, it’s just not a great first cut. People have been anticipating this movie for years and the trailer doesn’t do much in the way for excitement. Regardless,

First ‘Predator’ Trailer Shows Jacob Tremblay Accidentally Releasing Aliens

First ‘Predator’ Trailer Shows Jacob Tremblay Accidentally Releasing Aliens
Thirty years after the original “Predator” film was released, a rebooted version of the action film is here, and so are the aliens.

In the first trailer for “The Predator,” a young boy (Jacob Tremblay), releases the extraterrestrial creatures back into the world when he finds a miniature version of their space ship, which he thinks is a toy. Soon, the aliens have returned in full force and are posing a threat to mankind.

“I think they’re attempting hybridization, they’re upgrading on every planet they visit,” Olivia Munn’s character says as she works in a science lab. The action-packed first look shows a group of ex-soldiers in battle against the creatures, which have genetically increased their strength and intelligence with the DNA from other species.

The Predator” features a star-studded cast of Munn, Tremblay, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane and Yvonne Strahovski.

The Predator Trailer Is About As Bonkers As You’d Guess

It’s hard to jump down the needless rehash rabbit hole with a purer sense of reckless abandon than by revisiting The Predator, a movie that was largely dismissed when it first rolled around, though it has managed a certain cult status because it showed up during the Stallone/Schwarzenegger battle for action star supremacy. Thus, it’s easy to dismiss the film if you aren’t addicted to nonsensical action and violence, but it’s just as easy to be intrigued by what new sensibilities and FX potential might do with the effort. Throw in some actors who don’t seem like the kind to sign on for garbage, or anything near this genre in the first place, and you might have to revisit your initial impressions. If we played a game of “Here’s the cast, now guess what upcoming film these people are in,” I don’t

Shane Black Returns in First Teaser for ‘The Predator’

Shane Black’s name is not mentioned once in The Predator, he who gave us the franchise’s first entry, Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and, most recently, The Nice Guys relegated to a credit for Iron Man 3 — surely a work that trumps memory of any other noted herein. Nor can we sense a great deal of his ear. New work from the inconsistent but entertaining (and entertainingly inconsistent) auteur du snark is new work, however, and the shape hinted at in this first peek is classic Black. The only thing outright missing is a Christmas setting.

Fox have released the following in advance of a late-summer opening, which one can see below for the film starring Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen, and Yvonne Strahovski:
