‘Boomerang’ Season Finale: Lena Waithe Talks Subversive Cliffhanger, Plans For Season 2, And Potential Guest Stars
Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the season finale of Boomerang.

When it was announced that Lena Waithe was teaming with Halle Berry to bring the wildly underrated ’90s rom-com to Bet as a television series, diehard fans of the original were giddy with excitement as the new iteration set out to struck a curious chord with the younger generation — some of whom have never heard of the TV show. With Ben Cory Jones as showrunner and a team of fresh talent in front of and behind the camera, the first 10 episodes of the series brought a new perspective and look to the continuation of the film starring Eddie Murphy as playboy Marcus Graham who learns to love like an actual adult. Waithe and Berry (who starred in the original) brought the story into 2019 with a raw and real sense of storytelling and tonight’s finale titled “Trust” had

'Boomerang:' Halle Berry, Lena Waithe to Exec-Produce BET Series Adaptation

'Boomerang:' Halle Berry, Lena Waithe to Exec-Produce BET Series Adaptation
One of Boomerang's original stars will help bring the film to the small screen next year. Halle Berry has boarded BET's series adaptation of the 1992 movie as an executive producer, along with "The Chi" creator Lena Waithe, TVLine has learned.

The film starred Eddie Murphy as a womanizing, chauvinistic ad exec who realizes his new boss (Robin Givens) is basically a female version of himself. BET's adaptation — which received a 10-episode series order in April — will serve as a sequel of sorts, focusing on the son of Givens’ character and the daughter of Murphy's and Berry's characters as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.

"This is less of a reboot and more of a continuation of the original story," Waithe said in a statement.
