Government Officials Won't Be Allowed To Use TikTok If New Bill Passes

Government Officials Won't Be Allowed To Use TikTok If New Bill Passes
The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to bar federal employees from using popular social media app TikTok on government devices. TikTok has faced numerous calls for a blanket ban in the United States due to its ties with China. The app is owned by Chinese internet company ByteDance, and is often accused of being a security risk for the U.S. One of the biggest critics of the app was former President Donald Trump, whose administration tried to ban the app in 2020 along with another notable Chinese-owned app, WeChat. However, the proposed bans never materialized.

Authored by Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley, the 'No TikTok on Government Devices Act' was passed by a voice vote on Wednesday evening and gets the U.S. one step closer to a total ban on the Chinese-owned app. The House of Representatives will now vote on the bill before it can be

The proposed bill — dubbed the Averting the National Threat of Internet Surveillance, Oppressive Censorship and Influence, and Algorithmic Learning by the Chinese Communist Party Act, or the “Anti-social Ccp Act” — would prohibit “all transactions from any social media company in, or under the influence of, China, Russia, and several other foreign countries of concern.”

The bill’s introduction was prompted by concern that TikTok,

A Sitcom for Accountants, by Accountants Is Better Than You’d Think

A Sitcom for Accountants, by Accountants Is Better Than You’d Think
You’ve probably never heard of “Pbc.” For accountants, Pbc is a common acronym for “Provided by Client.” Also for accountants: FloQast software. And, in what seems like the ultimate bad idea for target-demo marketing, “Pbc” is a branded-content comedy series about accounting that’s produced by FloQast Studios.

But here’s the weird part: “Pbc” is not bad. Its supporting cast includes Danny Trejo (“Machete”), Kate Flannery (“The Office”), and Pete Gardner (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”). It just added Cheri Oteri (“Saturday Night Live”) and Neil Flynn(“Scrubs”). You probably wouldn’t know the series’ leads, Jessica Sarah Flaum and Christian A. Pierce, but they’re talented and have a total Jim-and-Pam thing going on.

If you want to check it out, Season 2 is now streaming (timed by FloQast to give accountants some much-need levity ahead of the busy accounting season). “Pbc” is not the next big Nielsen hit; for one thing,

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem Restricts TikTok Use Amid Concerns About National Security Threats
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) has signed an executive order restriction the use of TikTok on government devices. She claimed the app, which is owned by a Chinese company, is part of “data gathering operations on behalf of” the Chinese government.

In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died This Year!

“The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform,” she said in a press release. “Because of our serious duty to protect the private data of South Dakota citizens, we must take this action immediately.”

The order alleged that TikTok poses a “growing national security threat,” which is a concern that’s been expressed by U.S. officials for the last several years.

An October report by Forbes revealed that the platform’s parent company, ByteDance, was planning to gather and

Sonic's Ultimate Battle vs Knuckles Shows The One Reason Fans Love Him

Sonic's Ultimate Battle vs Knuckles Shows The One Reason Fans Love Him
A special issue of Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog series where roboticized versions of Sonic and Knuckles battle it out proves that the blue hedgehog is much more compelling as a flawed hero who makes mistakes and faces consequences for them.

Fans of the Archie Comics Sonic series that ran from 1992 to 2016 sometimes take issue with the current Sonic series by Idw Publishing. They believe that Sonic's previous portrayal was more complex, as he made bad decisions and faced consequences for them, something they see as lacking in the current series. There have been moments where the Idw series has alluded to past mistakes by Sonic. It's hinted that, before the events of the comic, Sonic's defeated at the onset of an ongoing war in turn prolonged the conflict much longer than it had to be. A much more recent issue also briefly made readers think that Sonic's limitations caused a villain to die,

This looks like a mix of Hunger Games and a bunch of other much better sci-fi, but that may be why it's direct to VOD. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael J. Gallagher's The Thinning, direct from YouTube: YouTube's The Thinning takes place in
