The Horror Chick's 11 Favorite Douchebags of Horror

While they may not necessarily be the villains and get all the glory, there's something to be said for the douchebag characters of the horror genre- they often add to the drama of any given situation, they generally complicate things and they make it oh, so fun to hate them.

That being said, I thought it might be kind of fun to look back at some of my favorite douchebag characters of the horror genre- past and present. The only rule? They aren't the film's "big bad." Be forewarned, though: If you haven't seen some of these films, this countdown may get a little spoiler-y for you.

So, in the immortal words of Kanye West, "Let's have a toast for the douchebags" and check out some of this writer's favorite unsavory characters in the horror genre of all time.

Idiot's Guide to the 'Resident Evil' Movies

Poor Alice. Will her epic war with the undead and the corrupt Umbrella Corporation ever end?

We kind of hope not, 'cause that would mean no more "Resident Evil" movies. Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns in the fifth(!) chapter, "Resident Evil: Retribution," in theaters this Friday. Her journey has been long, hard and more complicated than you might imagine; as such, we thought a refresher course of sorts was in order before you check out her latest battle against the victims — and creators — of that damn T-virus.

So, join us through the many levels — er, installments — of the movie series based on Capcom's iconic survival horror video games.

'Resident Evil' (2002)

A bad day at the offices (or labs, rather) of The Hive, the top-secret underground genetic research headquarters of the über-conglomerate, the Umbrella Corporation, turns into Judgment Day for the rest of us as the deadly experimental T-virus is unleashed,

Resident Evil: Afterlife (Review - New to video this week)

2010 - 96 mins. - Rated R

D: Paul W.S. Anderson

C: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller, Sienna Guillory, Kacey Barnfield, Norman Yeung

Alice and a handful of survivors make the track to a ship that could possibly offer refuge from the undead that have token over the world while having to deal with the ruthless Umbrella Corporation.

The Resident Evil series has been known for slick visuals, lots of posturing, nifty choreographed action sequences, striking use of costuming, exciting opening & closing sequences, kickass babes and a certain cool factor. For those that didn't like the first three films, then there is nothing about this entry that is going to change a person's perception on the series. For those that dug the previous films, then this entry does what the previous films did and it does it well. After four films,

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson

Written by: Paul W.S. Anderson

Cast: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larte, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjo, Wentworth Miller, Sienna Guillory, Kacey Barnfield, Norman Yeung, Fulvio Cecere, Ray Olubowale

Resident Evil: Afterlife kicks off right where its predecessor Extinction faded away; Alice and her little army of clones hit the insidious and evil Umbrella Corporation hard in Tokyo. The Japanese based installation is overrun and destroyed, and all of the clones are destroyed along with it - a heavy (and slightly convenient) toll. Worse is that Alice drops her common sense in order to deliver a cheesy one-liner, which sets her up to get hypodermically pricked by trickster mastermind and incredibly snappy dresser Albert Wesker. Alice is injected with a compound that effectively strips her of her oh wow super T-Virus powers. It is back to guns for Alice.

Wesker goes on

Resident Evil: Afterlife Movie Review
Title: Resident Evil: Afterlife Directed By: Paul W.S. Anderson Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller, Kacey Barnfield, Norman Yeung Thanks to Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Extinction, there are no high hopes for the franchise’s fourth installment, Afterlife. Even the promotional material highlights the fact that this is going to be just more of the same and sure enough, more of the same is exactly what we’re getting. There’s tacky dialogue, underdeveloped characters, poorly constructed plot points and utterly ridiculous stunts, but Milla Jovovich is back as Alice and just like in Resident Evil, Apocalypse and Extinction, even as the film [...]
