Exclusive: Directors Ben Peyser and Scott Rutherford Talk Ghost Team One

Exclusive: Directors Ben Peyser and Scott Rutherford Talk Ghost Team One
Ben Peyser and Scott Rutherford Talk Ghost Team One, in theaters this Friday

This Halloween will be the first time in five years that a Paranormal Activity movie hasn't been in theaters. If you're missing the demon, Paramount still has you covered with the found footage thriller Ghost Team One, which isn't just packed full of crazy horror, but also serves up some of the funniest jokes seen on screen this year. It perfectly captures the tension and terror of a Paranormal Activity movie. But it also does something that franchise fails to do. It gives us characters we actually care about and a story that isn't completely reliant on the next jump scare.

We're going to say it: Ghost Team One is better than all four of the previous Paranormal Activity movies combined! And we'd much rather see Ghost Team Two at this point than Ghostbusters 3.

It's a

Rob Zombie Talks Lords of Salem and The Blob

Rob Zombie Talks Lords of Salem and The Blob
It was announced earlier this month that Rob Zombie is set to make The Lords of Salem his next directorial feature. The witch-themed horror thriller will start shooting this spring, with Paranormal Activity's Jason Blum, Oren Peli, and Steven Schneider producing.

The Lords of Salem is based on a song from Rob Zombie's 2006 album Educated Horses, and it chronicles four witches from the 1692 Salem witch trial who are secretly burned at the stake, later arriving in present day Massachusetts to seek their revenge.

Rob Zombie was originally going to make the grim biker exploitation drama Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex as his next feature after Halloween II. He then toyed around with making a second The Blob remake. But he put both of those on hold for The Lords of Salem.

Rob Zombie recently spoke about all three projects, offering new details on his plans for The Lords of Salem,

Exclusive: Vivis Cortez Talks Paranormal Activity 2

Exclusive: Vivis Cortez Talks Paranormal Activity 2
Paranormal Activity 2's Vivis Cortez talks about playing the maid Martine, Paranormal Activity 3 and more.

When the Paranormal Activity hit theaters in October 2009, it took the country by storm, raking in a massive $104.7 million at the box office, from just a $15,000 budget, making it one of the most profitable studio movies of all time. Just a year later, Paranormal Activity 2 hit theaters and proved this franchise had staying power, taking in an impressive $84.7 million off a slightly-larger $2.75 million budget. Paranormal Activity 2 also introduced us to a new set of characters, one of whom is Martine, portrayed by Vivis Cortez, a housemaid that has experience with supernatural entities.

Paranormal Activity 2 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 8 and I recently had the chance to speak with Vivis Cortez on the phone about her experiences working on the sequel. Here's what she had to say.

Picture This: Robert Pattinson’s ‘Water for Elephants’ Hook Up

It looks as if things are getting rather hands on, or should we say trunk on, on the set of Water for Elephants.

Out of all the actors the film’s male lead, Robert Pattinson, could be canoodling with during filming – Adrienne Rusk, Ashley Palmer, Abbie Dunn, Reese Witherspoon – he chooses to shower an unnamed elephant, who has more tricks than even the director knew, with affection.

Paranormal Activity,” which was released only 13 months ago on Sept. 25, 2009, has gone down in history as one of the most profitable films of all time based on return on investment. The film had a production budget of $15,000 with a worldwide box-office gross of $193 million. Paramount/DreamWorks acquired the U.S. rights to “Paranormal Activity” for $350,000.

Paranormal Activity 2,” which has a much larger estimated budget of $2.75 million, is again written by Oren Peli with the addition of Michael R. Perry. This time, though, the sequel is directed by Tod Williams instead of Oren Peli. Katie Featherston reprises her role as Katie in “Paranormal Activity 2” and is the only listed cast member. Trailer: Paranormal Activity 2

This is the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 starring Katie Featherston and directed by Tod Williams. The film is the sequel to Paranormal Activity, directed by Oren Peli and starring Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer. Good films about haunting have been a little scarce in the past decade; when it comes to modern horror, it has been a boom time for competent but unoriginal rehashes that can only shock the uninitiated (The Ring, The Omen 666, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Last House on the Left). Generally, gore has dominated any remaining scary movies (Saw I-v spring to mind). The relentless bone-cracking and gut-squelching offered by gory films has proved itself to be a particularly mindless form of horror, and anyone seeking something less predictable will find that Paranormal Activity is the perfect antidote. Made in one week in 2007 for a budget of

Oren Peli announces Kip Williams as director for 'Paranormal Activity' sequel

Oren Peli, director of the indie blockbuster horror "Paranormal Activity" announced on his website that Kip Williams has signed on as director for eagerly anticipated follow-up. Paramount Pictures distributes the film which sees theaters October 22nd this year. The first film starred Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer. The film was directed, written and edited by Oren Peli and produced Jason Blum and Peli. It followed a young, middle class couple who move into a seemingly typical suburban “starter” tract house but soon become disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but certainly is very active in the middle of the night. The film provided many a scare for fans and was well harvested via a strong marketing campaign from Paramount.

‘Paranormal Activity’ Movie Thrillingly Spooked With A Great Twist

  • OnTheFlix
"Paranormal Activity" movie thrillingly spooked with a great twist at the end. It was very interesting. Paramount Pictures released this drama/supernatural thriller movie, nationwide last weekend, and I totally missed the debut. I don't know how that happened because this film was awesome and very interesting. It stars: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Friedrichs, Amber Armstrong, and Ashley Palmer. "Paranormal Activity," was shot in documentary style and focused on a middle class couple, Katie and Micah who have moved in together. However, Katie has a spiritual being that has followed her everywhere she goes her whole life, and now it's haunting her and Micah. Micah sets up a video camera to record what goes on when they sleep at night. They capture doors slamming, footstep sounds, lights turning on, and all sorts of other weird paranormal phenomena that just gets progressively more intense as the film rolled on.

Halloween Movie Round-Up ~ Zombieland, Paranormal Activity & Drag me to Hell

October is here, and you know what that means! Halloween preparations all month long! If you’re having a hard time thinking of a super spooky costume or getting in the Halloween spirit, then head on down to the theater and scare yourself silly with either Ruben Fleischer’s horror/comedy Zombieland, or Oren Peli’s horror/thriller Paranormal Activity.

Of course not everyone can handle getting scared in the theater, so if group shocks don’t tickle your fancy then why not pick up Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell and stay in for a night of screams.

Zombieland

Zombies continue to be one of the most popular movie monsters on the market, but zombie comedies don’t come along all that often. Shaun of the Dead has reigned supreme since 2004 as the only mainstream zombie comedy, but Zombieland gives it a run for its money with a
