Scorpina's comic renaissance showcases her as a powerful and overlooked villain from the Power Rangers universe. The comics give Scorpina a chance to shine as a formidable fighter and a key player in different storylines. By embracing Scorpina's redemption arc, the comics turn her into a hero and an official Power Ranger named the Witch.
Thanks to the Power Rangers comic books, Scorpina has finally become the iconic villain that she should have always been on the original show. Scorpina first debuted during the iconic five-parter "Green with Evil" and thus, almost immediately, was immortalized into Ranger lore forever. Despite only appearing in a handful of episodes, Scorpina developed a core fanbase and is fondly remembered to this day. However, that's mostly in spite of how the show handled her, not because of it.

Scorpina's disappearance is finally explained in Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon. Scorpina is betrayed by Rita Repulsa and banished to the Talos Dimension, where she avoids the Z-Wave and becomes the last Power Rangers villain in canon. Scorpina's story showcases her growth from Rita's henchwoman to a power-hungry villain in her own right.
A canonical explanation is finally given for the disappearance of the memorable Mighty Morphin Power Rangers villain, Scorpina. Introduced in the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Scorpina is, hands down, Rita Repulsa's most skilled henchwoman. Her appearances are few and far between at 25 episodes, but she leaves an impression as an underrated villain. Yet, she disappears suddenly without explanation.
Her last regular television appearance is in the second season episode "Goldar's Vice-Versa." After that, Scorpina's whereabouts are never disclosed until the 2018 comic Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon by Kyle Higgins, Giuseppe Cafaro, Marcelo Costa,...

Lord Drakkon, an alternate continuity version of famed Ranger Tommy Oliver who never renounced evil and joined the team, has the Power Rangers' most persistent and diabolical villain in Boom! Studios ongoing Power Rangers comic series. Drakkon's key moments include defeating the Rangers' leader, Red Ranger Jason, destroying the "World of the Coinless" version of Zordon, and even killing main continuity Tommy Oliver. Despite at one point being defeated, Drakkon has subsequently manipulated the Empyreals, become a part of the Omega Ranger squad, and most recently, formed the Drakkon Rangers.
Lord Drakkon, the central villain of Power Rangers' comic book continuation, is unquestionably the franchise's best antagonist. It's only apropos, seeing as Drakkon is derived from the franchise's best Ranger, Tommy Oliver. In a major change to Power Rangers lore, Drakkon hails from an alternate universe where the original Green Ranger remained evil after recovering from Rita Repulsa's mind control,...

Billy Cranston's ability to think quickly on his feet and use diplomacy to his advantage makes him a valuable member of the Power Rangers team. Despite his lack of confidence, Billy shows continual growth as a Ranger by facing his fears and embracing his unique strengths. Billy's self-sacrifice to save his friends and his ability to outsmart and dismantle powerful enemies showcase his bravery and genius as the ultimate Blue Ranger.
Billy Cranston's impact on the Power Rangers franchise is undeniable, even after his original Mighty Morphin stint as the original Blue Ranger. Considered by many to be the brains of the operation, Billy was one of the more flexible members of the team, capable of being as useful behind the scenes as on the battlefield. When he wasn't creating gadgets like the team's communicators, he was finding new ways to resolve their toughest conflicts.

Boom! Studios' Power Rangers comic books have revealed that there were Ranger teams before the classic 1990s squad, dramatically expanding the franchise's lore. The addition of these old Ranger teams, such as the Omega Rangers and Solar Rangers, is crucial for the long-term success of Power Rangers. The comics complement the TV shows by providing new context, and informing readers about the larger mythology of the the Power Rangers universe, enhancing fans' experience of the franchise.
The original Mighy Morphin team is considered by many to be the first Power Rangers squad assembled by Zordon, but the expanding lore of Boom! Studios Rangers comic books revealed otherwise. As Boom! continues to expand franchise lore, one significant change has clarified that earlier Ranger squads pre-dated the classic 1990s team.
Boom! Studios' ongoing Power Rangers series has effectively expanded the franchise in the comic book medium, telling epic, sprawling stories that the TV series couldn't.

As Boom! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #5 revealed, Tommy Oliver wasn't Rita's first choice for the Green Ranger. She originally approached Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger. As the Black Ranger, Zack Taylor displayed strong leadership skills, and was always the team's second in command. Zack's leadership qualities were underappreciated early in the franchise's history, but more recent stories have put more of an emphasis on his role at the forefront of the team.

Nightwing has had a complicated romantic history, with this list chronicling his love interests from his first crush through the present day. Nightwing's romantic partners have ranged from criminals like Liu and Shawn Tsang to fellow superheroes like Helena Bertinelli, Starfire, and Batgirl. Despite his many love interests, Nightwing's most enduring and fitting romance is with Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl.
Over the years, Nightwing has proved to be one of DC Comics' leading men not only when it comes to superheroics, but also in the realm of romantic plotlines. Having had a higher number of love interests than many of his DC peers, Nightwing has keep readers guessing as to who he might ultimately settle down and find happiness with.

Dick Grayson, the first Robin and long-tentured DC hero Nightwing, deduced that Bruce Wayne is Batman simply by analyzing their facial expressions and mannerisms. Nightwing's deductive abilities were evident even before his superhero career, and were showcased in 2012's Nightwing #0. Nightwing's natural detective skills may even surpass Batman's, as he demonstrated these abilities as an untrained child.
Before he even put on a cape and cowl, the first Robin – now known as Nightwing – proved his exceptional detective skills by almost immediately putting together than Bruce Wayne and Batman are one and the same, a fact that evaded even Gotham's most skilled investigators. As this proved, Dick Grayson's deduction skills were always top-notch, even before his long, illustrious superhero career.
Nightwing #0 –by Tom DeFalco, Kyle Higgins, Eddy Barrows, and Eber Ferreira – fully displayed Dick's deductive abilities. The issue serves as a hidden origin story of Dick Grayson and his entry into Wayne Manor.

Jason David Frank's final Power Rangers episode celebrated Tommy Oliver's importance to the franchise, honoring his character development and legacy. "Dimensions in Danger" showcased almost every Tommy Oliver Power Rangers form, with the Master Morpher allowing access to his previous powers. Though there have been many iterations of the Red Ranger across the Power Rangers franchise, none are as shocking as the Jason Lee Scott version in the alternate reality known as the World of the Coinless. This is a reality where Tommy Oliver's Green Ranger never regains his "good side" after being corrupted by Rita Repulsa, and instead learns to embrace his dark side. A decade after conquering humanity, Tommy Oliver aka Lord Drakkon disappears. He's believed to be dead, but is actually living in the Power Rangers' main reality.
Anthony Burch and Simone Ragazzoni's 2020 miniseries Power Rangers: Drakkon - New Dawn explores the World of the Coinless in the wake of Tommy's absence. Former Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart, who was herself corrupted by Tommy to do his bidding as the Ranger Slayer, regains her true personality and is now committed to bringing the world out of the darkness of Drakkon's rule.

Warning: Spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #109!The Boom! Batman has consistently faced some of the most intelligent and dangerous criminals in comics, but the fact he's always looking to the next biggest threat has given him a weakness that viewers still haven't seen in a movie yet.
The villains Batman goes up against are generally some of the smartest and most dangerous non-powered individuals in comic books. Characters like the Riddler, Bane, Joker, Scarecro, and Ra's al Ghul are huge threats, sometimes worldwide-level threats, and none of them have superpowers. Because of this, Batman is always looking for the next big threat; if something starts happening, Bruce always assumes it's part of a bigger threat. And he's not necessarily wrong to think this way, considering Batman has faced multiversal threats like the Court of Owls. But always looking for the next big threat or grand plan has given Batman a unique blind spot that once almost got both...

Every Power Rangers fan has a favorite era of the franchise, whether that be the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the follow-up Time Force, or even Rpm, everyone has at least one favorite team and corresponding Megazord–though one daring storyline decided to eliminate that choice entirely, thereby creating the ultimate tribute to the franchise: the Mega Megazord.

Never underestimate the power of a good cover. I know it’s a little shallow of me, but to this day I literally buy some comics purely for the covers. I’ve bought comics in the past where I don’t really like the creative team inside or even the featured characters, but its behind a cover that I like so take my money. The reason I am just about to review Radiant Black is because the cover caught my eye. Bright colours, showcasing a new, interesting looking character, nice title, that’ll do. I know Kyle Higgins mainly from his DC stuff, which was solid, and Costa from the odd Power Rangers book I’ve picked up here and there, so a decent creative team in there as well. Let’s take a look.

Our discussion includes adding conflict between the Rangers (which the show did little of), bringing back the Solar Rangers, Jason v. Tommy, how being an Omega Ranger is like going to college, and much more!

Marvel is about to get even more larger than life. In the continuing quest to expand Ultraman into the west, franchise owner Tsuburaya Productions has teamed up with Marvel Comics to release all-new stories based on the classic Ultraman series. Marvel’s Ultraman comic will be titled The Rise of Ultraman and the first issue will be hitting later this year! Along with the title it was also announced that Kyle Higgins (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and Matt Groom (Self/Made) will be writing the series and art will be done by Francesco Manna.
All of the talent attached to this is spectacular but the most noteworthy for fans of the genre is Higgins, since he was a driving force behind the Power Rangers comic for Boom! Studios. The first writer on the title, Higgins helped establish the comic and made huge contributions to the “Shattered Grid” event. He has...

DC's Tales From the Dark Multiverse line will tell stories that veer off from what actually happened within the DC Universe.
Dark Nights: Metal did more for DC's cosmology than any event they've had since Crisis on Infinite Earths. And as the gift that keeps on giving (alternate timelines), DC is capitalizing by pushing out evil versions of major crossovers. The latest two: Blackest Night and Infinite Crisis. These stories join previously announced alternate takes on Batman: Knightfall and The Death of Superman.
Each of these books takes an old DC story, asks what might have been if one thing had changed, and then lets a high profile creative team run with the idea, with Lee Weeks (Batman/Elmer Fudd and no it won't ever stop being weird to type) on covers.
For Blackest Night, Tim Seeley and Kyle Hotz switch up the classic Green Lantern event.

Gunpowder & Sky’s sci-fi label Dust has taken the rights to the interstellar noir comic Hadrian’s Wall from Kyle Higgins, Alec Siegel (Batman Beyond) and Rod Reis’ (Winter Soldier). Higgins will adapt and direct the feature.
It’s the first adaptation for the New York Times No. 1 best-selling author Higgins who has also directed a live-action trailer for Shattered Grid, which clocked 12 million cross-platform views in its first two weeks of release.
Billed as a locked-room murder mystery in space, Hadrian’s Wall follows a pill-popping detective sent to interview the crew of a distant survey ship, when his ex-wife’s new husband dies in suspicious circumstances amidst a broiling cold war between Earth and her distant colony.
“Although Hadrian’s Wall takes place a century into the future, the crew of the space vessel navigates both a murder mystery and a civil...

Despite Bucky Barnes counting himself among those affected by Thanos’ reality-altering snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, my gut tells me that big things await the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Likewise, the comic book side of things is giving us much to talk about, as the House of Ideas will soon launch a new Winter Soldier title.
Right now, not much information regarding the plot has been given, though we have been supplied with this brief synopsis:
You know his name. You know the things he’s done. And now that the man known as The Winter Soldier has found redemption, he’s going to help others do the same…even if it’s not as easy as he expects.
Granted, that does sound quite intriguing, but if you need more reassurance, know that the five-issue miniseries will be penned by none other than Kyle Higgins,...

After years of writing great comic book stories for Marvel Comics, Brian Micheal Bendis headed over to DC Comics to try something new and play with their characters. Well, it has been announced that he'll write a new 12-part Batman story arc in Batman Giant. This is the first time he will be writing a story for the Dark Knight and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with the character.
This comic is a part of DC's new line of 100-page Giant comics for Walmart. Bendis has had his fair share of working with dark, gritty, and grounded heroes in the past such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, so Batman should be a fun character for him to play with.
What's interesting is that Bendis is currently writing Superman for DC and while he's taking on Batman for DC's Walmart-exclusive titles, DC's Batman writer Tom King will write a 12-issue Superman story arc.

Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion – this time featuring a rundown of my picks of the Top 50 comics released in April 2018. This is part two, a countdown of books 25 – 1… But first the caveats:
First and foremost this is simply my list and with that comes a great deal of subjectivity. Any art form is a subjective medium and taste plays a major role. So if you feel my rankings are way off you probably have a legitimate point. My hope is to simply to highlight great books that deserve attention. We too often focus on the negative so why not take some time to celebrate the positive.
Since this is my list that also means I can only rank issues I have actually read. There may be a book that is in your top five that does not make the cut. Please let me know. I try to...

For the 25th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Kyle Higgins and Ryan Parrott are going all in. The writers of Boom! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Go Go Power Rangers series aren’t just crafting a Power Rangers story, they’re crafting the Power Ranger epic.
“Shattered Grid” sees the world of the Power Rangers coming apart at the seams, and the life of every Power Ranger ever is at risk, as popular villain Lord Drakkon returns to power. Kicking off in March’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25 by Higgins and artist Daniele Di Nicuolo, the event promises action, surprises, and a brand-new Ranger — with a familiar face.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Nightwing: The New Order #6 by Kyle Higgins and Trevor McCarthy, in stores now.
In Nightwing: The New Order, readers have been plunged into a DC Universe that wasn’t the one they knew. The year is 2040, and metahumans are now kept in check and incarcerated. This Orwellian-like future came to be when Dick Grayson used a device of Apokolipsian origin to wipe most of the world’s superpowers away. Now, a military strike team called the Crusaders, led by Dick, is in charge of the world’s safety, and it’s their job to hunt down any metahuman on the loose.

This review contains minor spoilers.
Does the world need a Nightwing miniseries? That’s like asking if a second scoop of vanilla ice cream is necessary. The answer, of course, is a resounding yes. It also doesn’t hurt that Nightwing: The New Order brings together the creative team of Kyle Higgins, who rejuvenated Dick Grayson during the New 52 era, and artist Trevor McCarthy, who provided killer artwork for the series in the early 2000s. It’s an all-star affair that looks set to produce a kickass storyline.
This Elseworlds tale takes place in an authoritarian Gotham City in 2040 where superpowers have been eliminated and outlawed. No longer Nightwing, Dick is the man responsible for it all and has now become the leader of a government task force called the Crusaders. His team hunts down the remaining metahumans to keep the world “safe,” ensuring that the former Boy Wonder is...

Not to be outdone by Marvel having turned Captain America Steve Rogers into an agent of Hydra, DC has decided to push the envelope itself by taking one of its most beloved heroes in an unexpected direction. Granted, we’ve seen a dictator Superman in the Injustice video games and comics, but the writers managed to make the Man of Steel’s heel turn rather believable. Already knowing that Nightwing: The New Order will undoubtedly create some backlash, we can only hope that the folks at DC are bracing themselves.
With a major motion picture centered on Dick Grayson set to arrive in the future, it makes sense that DC would want to give Nightwing more exposure, but it remains to be seen if playing the controversy card is the way to go. Before we proceed any further,...

Without a doubt, this has been a decade like no other when it comes to mainstream exposure for the character of Deathstroke. Having appeared on the hit CW series Arrow, the Batman: Arkham video game franchise and (I hope) the upcoming film The Batman, Slade Wilson has reached a broad audience like never before.
Thankfully, the world’s deadliest mercenary has also had a comic book series to call his own since 2011, although it did endure some relaunches. Even so, readers have seen the likes of Kyle Higgins, Rob Liefeld, Tony Daniel and, most recently, Christopher Priest put their own unique stamp on the supervillain – or anti-hero, depending on who’s telling the story.
Since the Rebirth era kicked off, Deathstroke was counted among the series fortunate enough to enjoy a twice-monthly shipping schedule. But for reasons unknown at this time, which could be anything ranging from less than desired...

A few weeks ago, the cast of Lionsgate and Saban's Power Rangers movie reboot confirmed they'd have a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con this week. Though, when the official schedule was released, there was no Hall H panel announced. It is believed that the first trailer for this anticipated sci-fi epic will still arrive at some point during the big event. We just don't know when or where. Until that happens, we have a new photo to tide fans over. And it should make some of you very happy, while winding up others who are not in favor of the changes being made to this popular franchise.
This latest images arrives courtesy of USA Today and their special Comic-Con preview. It shows us the main cast of new Power Rangers in their costumes for the first time. The gang goes unmasked, though we don't get to see these new suits in full.

C.O.W.L., or the Chicago Organized Workers League, consists of individuals with powers and some without. All members of the league, whether it is the telekinetic Radia or the honest detective John Pierce, are out to fight a common enemy: the villains that commit crimes and threaten the greater good of the city of Chicago. The premise may sound redundant, however, there are particular examples that utilized the genre of superheroes in a very unique way. C.O.W.L. has the potential, and to a certain extent captures an early feel of the impact that Watchmen would have not only on the genre, but also on comics as a whole.

C.O.W.L .is really shaping up into a great comic book. This issue gives us some context on another powered member of C.O.W.L., Kathryn Mitchell/Radia, and the distinctly unpleasant experience of being a female superhero in 1962. I really have to applaud this comic for taking a look at just how a woman would have been treated then (and in many respects is treated today), giving it a sense of historical authenticity.
