The director and cinematographer Julia Zakia was graduated on Cinema at the communication and art's school of São Paulo's university (USP). She has directed her first feature in 2013, Gypsy River, and some shorts (in special Planet Factory, Rough Stone, Tarabatara, Fig tree's Story, My grandpa's hat) and photographed many shorts, features and TV series (in special Licuri Surf that was selected in Berlinale and Kiko Goifman's new film Periscopio).
Her films have been shown in important festivals around the world: Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, Message to Man, Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano Havana, Rencontres Cinémas D'Amérique Latine de Toulouse, "Cinema Verite" Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Asiana International Short Film Festival, among others.
