Joaquin first experienced performing in front of crowds at age 7
singing folk-songs as a warm-up act before stage plays. At age 17 he
took the stage in alternating roles of "Teen Angel" and "Johnny Casino"
in a long-running production of Grease ("Vaselina") in Mexico City. He
then went on to be a regular member of the educational children's
program "Telesecundaria", produced by Secretaria de Educacion Publica
(SEP) in Mexico City. He later became involved with several underground
film projects there which led him to eventually produce and direct his
own films.
